...committing a horrible crime over their beliefs?

I know we are a small part of US society, but still you don't hear of this...why?

honest to admit that we just can't explain the inconsistencies in our beliefs?

2007-08-05 03:26:54 · 15 answers · asked by Anonymous

more people convert to that faith. I'm not talking about people that say"he talks to me all the time" or " he's in your heart". but a small sign would convert all the non believers to the Christian faith. Infact, not just the non believers but every man, woman, child from every other religion. Why can't the sky turn dark for about half an hour or the sea part for a little while. You can't say that just because you believe in the miracles of the planet such as life and everything around is a good arguement for converting to Christianity or prooving that God's exist's. Why do people have to wait until they die to see if God is really there. Why, if God is the only one true god won't he show a small sign. Surely, that would get churches splitting at the seams and there would be no need for any other false religions. I know that most will come back with "he shouldn't have to show parlour tricks" but it would help the christian cause to back up what they are saying.

1) "no other Gods before me". (unconstitutional if it was a law, violation of freedom of religion)

2) "no graven images". (unconstitutional if it was a law, violation of freedom of religion)

3) "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain". (unconstitutional if it was a law, violation of freedom of speech)

4) "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy". (unconstutional if it was a law, violation of freedom of religion)

5) "Honor your father and your mother". We have no laws enforcing that one.

6) "You shall not kill". Every society has that one.

7) "You shall not commit adultery". No enforced laws on this one.

8) "You shall not steal". Every society has that one.

9) "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor". Only a law if done in court - Perjury. But every society has punshished those who lie in a court.

10 "Do not Covert". No laws on that one. Almost every member of the republican party violates this one all the time!!

Scientists refer to hard evidence.
Is there evidence that there is a God?

2007-08-05 03:15:48 · 14 answers · asked by Anonymous

Why Am I An Atheist

. The "unexplained" is not evidence that God exist.

See examples below,

"How did everything come about? Why are we here? Who made this? Who made that? How did this happen? How did that happen?

Note: The questions above are often asked by God believers because they can't understand the universe. They just say "God did it", to make it easier on their mind.

Using God as a dumping ground for everything you dont understand is only the evidence of lazy thinking and you being bias towards any other possiblities. The top scientists are 85% Atheist, 10% agnostic, and 5%. theist. That's because the more you know, the less likely you are to believe in God.

Why is the "unexplained" not evidence?

A. Just because scientists haven't figured out everythiing yet doesn't mean we should pass them off as being the supernatural. That would be nothing but assumptions, not facts.

B. So called "miracles" are not evidence. (Testimonies are never investigated

Well hinduism preaches not to attach to anything including the religion itself, it does promote for you to search for the truth, yup your very own truth not everyone`s else,,it does recognize every other religion as good and we can follow whichever path we want, you can be an atheist if you want, but why be proud of it ? the moment you are proud of a religion then you are attaching yourself to it,, why do that ? even krishna said not to attach to anything,,,even ganesh preaches that,,, it preaches to be a human being without attaching yourself just to one flow of information,,why be proud ?? i dont see any sense in that

I'm just curious and would be grateful if any Jehovah's Witnesses could clear it up for me please. :)

The candles on the cake are superstitious, which I understand, but what if you didn't have a birhday cake or anything from any other superstitions, would that be acceptable?

The Bible reports two birthday celebrations, the first was that of Pharaoh of Egypt and the second was Herod Antipas. So if the Bible does record this, why do you avoid this? Also it can be said that the Bible does not discorage genourous giving to loved ones, nor does it discorage enjoying a feast or party.

"I have come to know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good during one’s life;... It is the gift of God" (Eccl. 3:12, 13)

Thank you. :) Serious answers only please.

I can follow along by pattern, knowing the Mass as well as I do from growing up Catholic. I happen to be listening to the Mass in Polish. I have some comprehension of Russian and Serb, and I can distinguish some words whose common roots help me relate the meaning.

Now I'm listening to the blessing of the Sacraments for the Mass by radio. I know that this is not the same as going physically to a Mass, but certain disabilities and circumstances complicate my attending Mass personally.

Is there any spiritual benefit to listening, if maybe I recall the meaning of the Mass by my memory of it in other languages-- English, Spanish, French, and Latin? Where can I get a missal in Polish, so I can learn the Mass in Polish? Is there a book with the Polish on one page, and the Latin or the English on the opposite page?

Thank you. Djenku je.

Where a deist is someone who seeks to find god through science, patterns etc.

I'm not refering to a particular god, certainly not to a god anwered to by any religion.

All opinions gratefully accepted, all abuse and childish spoutings frowned upon.

God's knowledge of the germ theory,advanced zoology, advanced marine biology, cloning, genetic engineering, trans genetics, advanced disease prevention through surface contact, the spread of airborne diseases, contagious skin diseases, convalescence of women after childbirth,classification of land animals by their internal digestive system and even or odd number of toes,knowledge of every insect on earth,human health and nutrition,the health hazards of green mold and mildew on clothing and on walls of houses, sexually transmitted diseases, the health hazards of human inbreeding, the human only health benifits of cooking our food, disease prevention by circumcision of the human male penis, plus many more I'll leave out right now because I'm the only one in the world that knows it. Isn't this enough scientific proof of pre- human scientific knowledge belonging to a non-human scientific mind of a "Intellegent Designer" who the world calls "God"? (Looks like this debate is over).

Here are two courtesy of Emo Phillips:

When I was a kid, I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I
realized that the Lord, in his wisdom, didn't work that way. So I just stole
one and asked him to forgive me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge,
about to jump off. So I ran over and said "stop! don't do it!"
"Why shouldn't I?" he said.
I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!"
He said, "Like what?"
I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?"
He said, "Religious."
I said, "Me too! Are you Christian or Buddhist?"
He said, "Christian."
I said, "Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?"
He said, "Protestant."
I said, "Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?"
He said, "Baptist!"
I said, "Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?"
He said, "Baptist Church of God!"
I said, "Me too! Are you original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed
Baptist Church of God?"
He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God!"
I said, "Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879,
or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?"
He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!"
I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off.
How are atheists supposed to give a mature answer to a theist whose question just assumes that God exists? It's like someone asking you "How many elves do you think Santa Claus has doing slave labour all year round? Mature answers only please".
