It is only selfish if someone thinks they have the right way based on their own self righteousness.
If someone said, "I AM the Way, Truth & the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.". This isn't selfish but telling us the way to be restored to God. Because Jesus said this & He never lied. So, this is the Truth. So, not self righteous or selfish.

It is not selfish to think that your way and belief is the only right way. But if based on the fact that your belief is not the right way, then it is a false wrong belief.
But if based on facts that your belief is indeed the right way, then you are on the right path. But it is selfish when you do not teach others about the right way. Do not force others to believe in your belief, but let them make their own decision after you have taught them your belief. It is also selfish when you do not try to understand why the other people does not share the same belief as you have.

yes, of course it would be selfish... and illogical. Our beliefs depend on what part of the world we were born in, we are trained to believe that certain things are right, a certain God is right, and certain way to please Him. Had we been born some place else, our beliefs would be totally different. So i think there is not only one right belief. So it would be wrong to think only ours is the right one.

I don't know if "selfish" is the right word... But, I think the its best to recognize your religion/way/belief is the right way for *you* and not necessarily the right way for others.
While I may not be a Christian or believe in its teachings, I recognize that its obviously the right choice for many people. Likewise, Christian's may better embody their teachings if they allow others to do what's *right* for themselves.

No, you wouldn't believe something if you didn't think it was right or true. However, you should listen to other people's ideas and opinions, rather than just closing your ears altogether - that way, you can have a well informed opinion, and not one that was purely born of your own prejudices, ideas and beliefs.

I wouldn't call it selfish...more like being close minded. I'm a practicing Hindu but I'm still open to other religions and beliefs. Theres nothing wrong in strongly believing your faith, once you don't patronize and degrade other religions theres absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Selfish? No. But to the extreme most people take it, I'd consider it extremely intolerant and ignorant

No, it's logical. If a person's way was to include other ways, then it would have to include those that excluded his or her way as well. Truth, by it's nature, is exclusive, for it must exclude error.
