Comments on spelling, grammar, etc almost always precede very poor logic in answers.

I don't mind the grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc errors. I have commented poorly on these things myself on occasion when they are used in ways I find particularly offensive, but, for the most part I think it is the "language correction" commentators who are self-righteously arrogant and pretentious.

(How many of you will catch the subtle pun in pretentious and smile? How many will mistake it for something else and become as hypocritically upset as some do over improperly written language? How many will miss it entirely? How many wonder if the Madagascar Gecko hired to do the Geico commercials actually has a green card or if he is an illegal alien? These are the important questions!)

Proper usage of grammar and punctionation is the same regardless of your spiritual beliefs, and regardless of whether you are writing online or in real time. Here are a few rules of capitalization that you should've learned at the basic grade school education level:

The beginnings of sentences are capitalized.

The nominative form of the singular first-person pronoun, "I", is capitalized, along with all its contractions (I'll, I'm, etc) are also capitalized.

Proper nouns and names derived from proper nouns are always capitalized. A noun, as you'll recall, is a person, place or thing. So this means means that the names of gods are capitalized, including Allah, Vishnu, and God. The word god is generally not capitalized if it is used to refer to the generic idea of a deity, nor is it capitalized when it refers to multiple gods, e.g., Roman gods. There may be some confusion because the Judeo-Christian god is rarely referred to by a specific name, but simply as God. Other names for the Judeo-Christian god, such as Elohim, Yahweh and Lord, are also capitalized.

Insisting on using a small case letter for the name of a deity not only demonstrates that a person has the intent of insulting and belittling other people who happen to hold a specific belief, it also demonstrates that the individual is not sufficiently educated as to how to use the English langage correctly.

If those who call themselves atheists are as logical and as smart as they like to claim, then one would think that using a commonly spoken and written language properly and intelligently would be a point of pride for them, but then Proverbs does say, pride goeth before a fall, right?

If you had ever taken the time to build up your cultural literacy by reading any holy book including the Bible for its literary and historic value rather than feeling threatened and then condemning the works out of hand, you would've already known that! Alas, there are none so blind as those who will not see...

I spell God with a capital G because I see the God I believe in as separate from other gods, a specific one. Just like there is the word "street," and then there is Elm Street. In the second case, the specific street would be capitalized.

But I think it's petty to nitpick other's spelling and typing.

Actually, I like to be corrected, even though I try to make sure I type things right when I am asking a question or answering one for that matter.

Yeah, it seems like nit-picking, but take it as constructive criticism- even though I capitalize God's title.

edit: Oh, you don't believe in our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ? That's why you look angry-

those are the kind of people who are called perfectionists....or maybe even "old school". they take a lot of time to respond because they have to capitalize every word that needs it. they type on their keyboard like they used to type on their manual typewriter.

to tell you the truth, i'm one of those people... it is taking me intentional concentration to not capitalize the words at the beginnings of sentences. i'm trying to "go with the flow" & not worry about other's gramer. (lol)

have you heard this quote from god...?
"If you have to swear, why don't you use your own name?"
~God

Well, meum, I wouldn't let it bother ME too much if I were you.
So, meum doesn't believe in a Savior. That's fine. meum doesn't have to believe in a Savior if meum prefers not to. Nobody ought to try to tell meum what meum ought to believe, or how meum ought to spell God, either.
Love,
Angeltress....

Actually I find it a little more tedious when they quote endless streams of scriptures instead of actually answering the question.
