Why Am I An Atheist

. The "unexplained" is not evidence that God exist.

See examples below,

"How did everything come about? Why are we here? Who made this? Who made that? How did this happen? How did that happen?

Note: The questions above are often asked by God believers because they can't understand the universe. They just say "God did it", to make it easier on their mind.

Using God as a dumping ground for everything you dont understand is only the evidence of lazy thinking and you being bias towards any other possiblities. The top scientists are 85% Atheist, 10% agnostic, and 5%. theist. That's because the more you know, the less likely you are to believe in God.

Why is the "unexplained" not evidence?

A. Just because scientists haven't figured out everythiing yet doesn't mean we should pass them off as being the supernatural. That would be nothing but assumptions, not facts.

B. So called "miracles" are not evidence. (Testimonies are never investigated

You have succumbed to the smarter-than-thou syndrome. You are convinced that you are more intelligent than religious people. You like the feeling of superiority. Good for you. Enjoy.

The reality is that your arrogance and smugness is preventing you from thinking critically. You haven't lived long enough to see how many things "proven" by science have turned out to be false. Scientists are constantly revising based on new data, but they are no closer to answering the questions listed above than they ever have been. This is because human beings and human knowledge are imperfect.

People look at science skeptically not because they are stupid or lazy, but because science does not answer its own questions satisfactorily. Evolution will be proven to be a fallacy--by a scientist. Scientists will accept this and move on to a new theory. People will someday laugh that people like you could actually believe something so obviously fanciful. But people like you in the future will shrug it off and cast their lot with science. It's a never-ending cycle.

Jesus spoke to this:

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

I don't know if real scientific evidence would make any difference to you at all.. You sound a bit hateful toward matters on God.. Never the less I give you a bit and you can tell me if you want it all or ignore me and I'll know you aren't as honest as you say you are..

In 1953, the evolutionary community became very excited because they viewed the work of Stanley Miller and Harold Urey as scientific proof that life could have been formed from chemicals by random chance natural processes. In that classic experiment, Miller and Urey combined a mixture of
methane, ammonia, hydrogen, and water vapor and passed the mixture through an electric discharge to simulate lightning. At the end of the experiment, the products were found to contain a few amino acids. Since amino acids are the individual links of long chain polymers called proteins, and proteins are important in our bodies, newspapers quickly reported there was laboratory evidence that now proved life came from chemicals.
Dr. Charles McCombs an Organic Chemist, a scientist who has 20 chemical patents had to admit that the formation of amino acids under these conditions is fascinating, but there is a major problem. Life was never formed in that experiment. The product was amino acids, which are normal everyday
chemicals that do not "live." Even unto this day, there is no known process that has ever converted amino acids into a life form. Ever since 1953, scientists have been asking if the formation of amino acids in those experiments proves the claim that life came from chemicals? Then I realized
that a discussion of the facts would inevitably lead to a discussion of the subject of chirality. Chirality totally destroys the claim that life came from chemicals.

I can't really dispute your logic. If one assumes that religion is simply mans attempt to explain the unknown and that is true in at least some and probably many cases, then your argument is pretty strong. If religion is based on events and testimonies then it's basically someones word against others. I personnely believe that a God or at least a higher power of some kind must exist within the set of an infinite existence. Or rather I do not believe that humanity is the highest form of life in all of an infinite existence. There is I think you would admit a probability that within the set of infinity something exist that is smarter and more powerful then ourselves. If we can admit that then its not a great leap to say that for each of those somethings there is something even greater. Eventually, even if you discount something infinitely more powerful and intelligent, Isn't it probable that there is something so powerful and intelligent that it might as well be a god from our perspective? Is it possible that such a thing ever interacted with us? Could then the testimony be correct?
I am not saying you are wrong. I don't honestly know. But that is why I believe. To me it seems logical to believe.

Ashiest, would you like to know why I am a Christian?

How did everything come about?
God SPOKE it into being, that is why Jesus is the WORD of God.

Why are we here?
God has a purpose for your life, he is just waiting for you to ask him for the map. You have a position in the ministry of Jesus Christ, you just dont know what it is. There are many parts to a body, all are important, same thing with the body of Christ.

Who made this, who made that, ?
The bible is clear in Genesis who started this and that, how civilization came about.

The bible is clear how many things happen, be specific and I might be able to show you.

I do understand the universe and there are many scientific facts that are in the bible that you do not even know are there.

Science agrees that homo sapiens arrived on the world stage at one minute to midnight, well gee, the bible says that man was created last.

The bible says that the stars in the sky are as numerous as the sand on the beach, the more we look in the universe, the more stars we find.

And Sir Issac Newton was a firm believer in God, and never recanted his view, Galileo, same thing. There are many scientists that believe in God because of their findings.

Mankind will never figure out "everything" because we are not that smart. Like what tells an egg to divide the first time when a sperm hits it? Which came first the chicken or the egg?
Where is the missing link between a platypus and the rest of the animal kingdom? Just to name a few.

And you say that miracles are not evidence.
1 Where do they come from?
2 You have never had one happen to you.
3 When the Holy Ghost enters your body, you KNOW that God is real.

Look at the headlines of the news and look at biblical prophecy and it is quite obvious what is going on.

Wars and rumors of wars, that is all over.

Cant buy without a mark on your hand or forehead. Where do you hold you credit card? Your hand? Where is your pin number? In your head?

One man controlling the world, sound impossible? If you control the U.S. treasury, the bank in Brussels, and the Japanese yen, you my friend, control the world.

You are looking at the beginning and saying that God is not there, you should be looking at the ending, it is closer than anyone thinks!

Any more questions? I would love to answer them.

1. I think we can say that EASY EXPLANATIONS ARE SOMETIMES THE CORRECT ONES. There is no rule that always there must be very difficult way to make the universe meaningful. It comes easy to our mind because maybe that's way how the things go.
2. Non existence is such a thing that never can be proved 100 %surely. not only for God, but for every thing proving existence is easy, even a couple of proof is enough for people who have no bias. But proving no existence is impossible . nobody can prove the nonexistence of hereafter.

The apostle Paul described the spiritual blindness that envelops the world and pointed out the source of that blindness. "But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age (Satan) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them" (2 Corinthians 4:3, 4)...So you ,an unbeliver asks, "If there is a God, why doesn't He reveal Himself?"—as though this would resolve all debate about God's existence. God, however, knows better. He knows that no amount of evidence will convince those who are determined not to acknowledge and accept Him.

That is exactly what God tells us repeatedly in the Bible. Not only did He reveal Himself to the writers of the Bible to pass on to us what we need to know, but He has revealed Himself to everyone through His creation.

Yet we often draw incorrect conclusions from the ample evidence He has provided. People hold underlying motives for refusing to believe in a Creator God or a higher purpose. This all too conveniently allows us to live however we want without interference from any divine authority.

The fallacy of that reasoning is that God won't simply go away so we can satisfy our selfish cravings. Denying the law of gravity just because we can't see, touch or handle it doesn't mean gravity doesn't exist. In the same way, denying the equally real and binding spiritual laws and principles God set in motion doesn't mean He and they magically go away. We remain ultimately accountable to the Creator, who has left us with abundant evidence of His existence.

Paul, an apostle who powerfully preached about the true God in a superstitious, polytheistic world, spoke unambiguously of the consequences of ignoring the evidence of the Creator. "Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20, NRSV).

Paul is saying here that we can see ample evidence of a Creator, and we can understand His character and nature, by observing the physical creation. He asserts that the evidence is so unmistakable that a rational human has no excuse to conclude there is no God. Men have no excuse to conclude God is anything other than what He is: eternal, supreme, all powerful and infinitely good. A person who asks the right questions and honestly wants to know the answers will come to the same logical conclusion.

So powerful is the evidence for God that Paul declares: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them" (verses 18-19, NRSV).

Although God clearly reveals His existence, He acknowledges that some men suppress the truth about Him. Why would anyone do that? Paul answers that "since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done" (verse 28, NRSV). Some simply don't want to acknowledge the existence of God so they can live as they want to live and do whatever they want to do. This explains why man has used his God-given abilities of observation and logic to reason incorrectly and draw false conclusions.

'lazy thinking' would be merely accepting those 'percentages' of the beliefs of 'top scientists' you tossed out without a shred of attribution. it's a reasonable assumption that you simply made it up-the dead giveaway? the use of the term 'top scientists'-you can't really quantify a subjective category in objective terms-at least, if you're operating with any intellectual honesty...the remainder of your post is made up of more of the same...maybe you're impressing yourself with your 'pseudo-intellectual' ramblings, but i doubt you're fooling anyone else.
as to WHY you're an atheist, that's between you and your conscience-

All I know is I died and was revived & if you would experience that, you would believe in God, too.

(I work in scientic research, btw.)
I totally believe in God despite what you would call lack of evidence- God can't be disproved either.
(Actually, some testimonies are investigated- such as the power of prayer and how it correlates with physical healing.)

don't know what version of christianity you've been watching, but those ones i know aren't as concerned about creation, so much as they are into "the scene". it's a happening pad. they go in that club, hear some old fella tell them things they agree with, and go back out into the world, and tell others.

conversion and group dynamic, the two most powerful forces behind christianity. i'll bet if you were in a group full of christians who were all telling you wrong, you'd shake a little bit in your lack of faith. herd behavior is powerful dude!

but you make some good points though. religion should have uncertainty attached to it. noone can really be sure of their beliefs. but that's the way it rolls.... lol.
