Do you think we create our own heaven or hell, like in the movie "What Dreams May Come"? Or do you think we all go to the same place. Please explain.

Is breaking one rule okay if it helps you better abide by another rule? For instance, I broke the law of chastity and might be pregnant, so therefore I've been better adhering to the word of wisdom. No drinking, less smoking and less caffeine. Do you consider it a good thing if you do something that wouldn't neccisarrily be good, and therefore it's making you a better person? Please explain, feel free to use scriptural support :D

I just saw a question about a wife who thinks that meditation leads to demon possessaion. A few days ago a woman said that schizophreia is demon possesion. I saw a blog on 360 about the harm of Harry Potter.

Now I know that there are many wonderful intelligent christians, one of them is my best friend. She and I have had many good laughs over people like those.

Please explain to me how religion can make common sense walk out the door? Honestly, I just don't understand. Do these people who obviously possess a below average intelligence just happen to be Christians? They are not the norm, right? Please help me understand.

seem to think that the only way to get their message across is to insult you and tell you what an idiot you are for not believing just like them?
as soon as someone starts telling me how stupid i am or how much more "vast" their intellect is than mine is i tend to either tune them out or go straight on the defensive.
i think most people are that way.
you are not going to get our minds to open up and be receptive towards you if you come at us that way.
so again i ask why are SOME of you like this? don't you know any better way?

of the universe and explain other phenomena in the world. They also involve heroes and gods and try to teach some sort of moral.

According to Georgia College & State University,
"Myths are symbolic tales of the distant past (often primordial times) that concern cosmogony and cosmology (the origin and nature of the universe), may be connected to belief systems or rituals, and may serve to direct social action and values."

So I'm an atheist I want the christian perspective, because if your God can't then that must mean Satan is at least as powerful as God

A lot of these people swear up and down that there is no God, no heaven, no hell - yet they continue to demand that Christians PROVE everything to them. If they don't believe they why do they keep asking?

I know we should be patient when trying to tell people aout the Lord but these people aren't even asking thoughtful questions -they're all insults.

How can one stay calm and answer a valid question that a person might actually have?

How could I prove to someone that this Jesus stuff is amazing? How do I show someone that it's different from what everyone else is preaching? How can I make someone believe that this love is incredible? I've seen allot of posts that supposed to help Christianity, but they all sound phony. How can I make it clear that this is real?

I would like to see Religion & Spirituality get moved to the Mythology & Folklore catagory.

any other rational people out there think it is also absurd that Religion & Spirituality has its own catagory?

Hasn't the human race evolved enough to understand that the existance of any god-like being is a MYTH?

I think that some people turn to religion not because of true belief, but because they do not have the strenght to carry the burden of life. We see this all the time, when a loved one dies, an unreligous person turns to God to relieve suffering, not because he/she believes that God exists, but because that they know that they won't live with the pain without an excuse to live on. I suppose what I'm trying to say, and this is putting it badly, is religion a necessary evil?

christians bashing catholics, both bash muslims, all bash atheistes, i have heard enough, the fact is atheists don't care if you believe we just ask why. religion is great, but to fight about which one is better than the other, come on, get over yourselves, not one religion has the answers, otherwise they'd already would have proving God existed or not.

I recently discovered this fact and it is deeply troubling to me. The homosexual/Christian issue is a hot topic issue of the faith, and it seriously concerns me that the discrimination of homosexuals is dependent on the particular translation of the Bible. Can someone please articulate the reason there are translations of the Bible without the word "homosexual?" I'm concerned about this, and I'd like a mature Christian to help me with this issue.

Thanks

Whenever I see this question asked, I see atheists describe studies (such as the one below).

Christians tend to say things like "I'm a Christian and I have a PhD" or "Both have genuises and idiots." These don't really address the TREND that is shown.

Any theist care to respond to the general link between education level and being non-religious?

What will they do when their child comes home reciting Islamic prayers? Or Wiccan, Druid, Taoist, or any prayer calling to a god or goddess they do not worship. Would that be ok with you?

I mean, the moment its born it is.
And partial birth abortions are inhumane too.
you dont even give babies that much of a chance anymore.
what constatutes life, they have there own heartbeat, there on brain, and everything else, just still forming.
so why are they consitered part of a women...chose to do with what they want with thre bodies....no there ot carrying another body, not before its born at least, its a thing. not even alive huh? otherwise that would be murder and wrong.

am I right so far?
