It's simple; Satan was created as an eternal spirit - death is simply separation from God... there is a natural death, which we all experience100%, there is a spiritual death, which means that if you are apart from God your are dead in sin and dead to God; your spirit has no relationship with God and this is separation from God even althought you are alive physically... but there is also eternal death, which is know as the second death, which those that reject God and die in there sin will experience forever - Satan will also experience this kind of death and eternal torture forever; which is God's eternal judgment in the lake of fire...

Satan will be destroyed in the end.
But you see a bet is going on between God and Satan
Satan already has lost the first part... Satan said that Jesus couldn't finish carrying out his plan coming to Earth without sinning and die on a cross and ressurrect again.
The next part is that Satan said nobody would believe in Jesus
Satan was given 6000 years to try to keep people from believing
Next Satan will be bound and thrown in a pit for 1000 years while Jesus reigns over the world
Then he will be released again and given a short season to round some more unbelievers up and then the final battle will happen which Jesus and the believers will finally be victorious and Satan will be cast into the lake of fire
How do I know all this? I read the whole book called the Bible

I'm a Christain and I've also wondered this too when i was a little kid. Well, I guess there needs to be a balance in the world, Good and Evil. God is powerful of course, Satan has power too that is why he is able to cause many people to sin. But if God were to kill Satan, then that would wreck the balance, i guess. I'm also not too sure about my answer, its just my perspective :P

For Jews, anything that even remotely conflicts with the idea that God is One and Indivisible will be rejected because it precludes true, pure, monotheism. The idea that there is a God in heaven above who fights against a god of the underworld, or hell, is not monotheism, however, it is the same duality found in other pagan faiths. The Bible speaks of a character known as The Satan, who acts like a prosecuting attorney, or a district attorney, in God's court. However, The Satan has no power or authority in and of himself, rather he must get permission from the Judge, God, to do anything.

here my analogy as an ex-catholic gone atheist, in comparison to the god not smiting satan: think of a multi player vedeo game were cheat codes can be allowed now picture your self as the one who dose not know any of the cheat codes or anything about the game it self but you do know that they can use them... will you still be so stupid as to step in to the game and play it with the power cheat players? the smart say i rather find out more, the stupid and stupid say meh ill take a wack at it to me satan represents the stupid player wile god represents the player with all the cheat codes turned on and off as he so chooses this is why i can't believe in satan because he dose not have all the cheat codes that his counter part dose and i can't believe in a god that having all of the cheat codes needed to save the npc that we are is just standing by doing nothing but waiting.
even further to that point is the simple conceptions of doing the so called right things of torturing those who do not believe... if you grasp this concept carefully what would it mean for those npc's that believe differently aside from those who just don't? not to mention meany of the different believers and non belivers live a lawful life with out the need to belive in the same god or none at all and even do good for others as it normally should amongst all of us.
but no...
God: hey guess what after i let this guy run a muck ill send him and all who believe differently or not to eternal torture even if they did some good the belief is what really gets me...

My understanding is that if God smited Satan, no one would know whether Satan was actually right.
In other words, God has something to prove.
Some Christians believe we're in a galactic uhh... bodily function.. contest between God and Satan. Go figure.

God can't kill Satan because Satan is made of part of God's Godliness but he turned it into evil
he is false but powerful
only way to kill him: holy water

Well God created all the fallen arch angels. Lucifer was the arch angel of white light second in command to God. So basically God created him. God cast him out of the heavens, Samiel another arch angel left heaven of his own free will. Then many arch angels fell from grace or left and God bunched them all together and named them as one, Satan. Very odd and I never really understood why this happened and probably never will.
