You are correct, they are being used by a false cult.
Bible believing Christians need to pray for all of those who are messed up in false cults.

It's only when Christians pray for others that 'things' begin to happen, spiritually. Whether it's for the JWs, the Mormons, orphans, the poor, the persecuted Church... prayer affects the one praying, insight comes, and God is always pleased to grant requests that are in accordance with his holy will. Ignore those people who are criticizing you for your genuine concern. Just keep on praying, and know that there are huge numbers of your brothers and sisters the world over who pray similarly.
(PS I just LOVED your answer to the American guy at that Scottish wedding. Was he really less than 5ft tall, with a kilt down to his ankles? Ha ha ha! No wonder he hates kilts!)

Sorry I have nothing against them personally, except for their persistence in banging my door knocker and not going away. And leaving there literature at my door. I don't see to many other organised religions (well except the Morman's) out door knocking and trying to "spread the word"
I have a good and dear friend who is a Jehovah Witness and he is wonderful, but he does not push his religion on us.
They also do not celebrate birthday's holidays etc....so he misses out on a lot of great fun, but that is his choice and I respect that

I feel sorry for you too Suzy, because you are just as faithful and being used in the same way, you just haven't realized it yet.
I won't pray for you, because it doesn't really work, but will hope that, one day you will see that there is hope for humanity in progress and education, and that wasting a life preparing for a theoretical afterlife is a terrible thing.

And Suzie, I feel sorry for you, that you feel you must judge others based on your own beliefs. Get over it. They don't believe what you believe.
I've known many JWs and while I don't agree with many of their beliefs, they have been good people. Perhaps what you've been reading isn't about the religion, but some of the people practicing it and I'm sorry to tell you this, but bad people come in all stripes and religions.

It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.
However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.
(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers
Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:
(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.
(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.
(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Thank You. I know what you mean, I tried getting into that religion and OH MY GOSH. I was soo depressed. My life could of progressed so much farther if I was Mormon or something instead.I was told what kind of jobs are and are not appropriate to take. I was told that I wasn't suppose to feel the Holy Spirit. And I was told that I couldn't get baptized until I finish reading three books with another J.W. LEANING OVER MY SHOULDER THE WHOLE TIME. Reading them on my own didn't count. Oviousely, no trust. I studied with the Mormons for a year and my life progressed ALOT farther. But I had some serious problems with them too but at least my life progressed. Well, anyways, I tried going back to the Kingdom Hall after a year, and every body knew I had been studying with the Mormons. I was welcomed back and everyone talked to me and stuff. But I noticed something. I wasn't allowed to participate in class. I would raise my hand and everytime intentionally not get called on. I think the elder was giving me a dirty look. I finally realized what was happening. I just laughed, got up and left. J.W. is a STRANGE religion. I CAN"T EVEN DESCRIBE all the reasons why it was wierd. Like with the Mormons I can point out this and that and this and that. But with the J.W.'s it's like, how to do I put this? They do not believe in or support chairty and discourage it because only Jehovah's New World will solve all of man kinds problems. J.W. just insane. They just made me feel like my life wasn't going to get better until the New World. I know that's not true now. I'm alot happier with out them. But I suppose they made me feel important by comming over to my house everyday and by praising my "GOOD" answers in the Hall.

They may, very well, be "FAITHFUL SERVANTS" of their God, my friend, - and, I have no "QUARREL", or "QUALM", with regard, to their level of "COMMITMENT" but, let us NOT forget ONE THING, about them.
They do NOT, - as you, so RIGHTLY, say, - celebrate ANY form of "FESTIVAL", - nor do they celebrate BIRTHDAYS!
But, what REALLY makes my BLOOD BOIL, whenever I HEAR about them, is the following FACT!
The actuality, IS, that, THEY would, sooner stand and watch, as their children DIE, in AGONY, - rather, than permit doctors to administer a BLOOD TRANSFUSION, in order that their children's LIVES may be SAVED!
Forgive me, for SAYING so, but, any SECT, - CULT, - or RELIGION, - that permits something, which is, actually, tantamount to CHILD NEGLECT, - cannot be said to be "BELIEVERS", in the FIRST PLACE!

If you are praying, then you are being used. Ooooo, you really mean it when you say you are going to talk to the sky? I guess that's easier than actually getting out and doing something for real. Prayer is a waste of time.
Gods don't exist. Those that follow religions are being used by them. You are in just as much of a rut as the JWs.
