when all your friends of this world are gone and have betrayed you and you are all alone , do you still feel like you are somebody? do things in your past haunt you ? is something missing in you life? is this world keeping you down? do you feel captive to this world and it's ways ? if so , there is a way out . It is the freedom which comes with Christ Jesus. if you are sick of the chains of this world that hold you down , Cry Out to Christ Jesus . ask God to forgive your sins , turn away from your worldly way and ask Christ Jesus to come into your life and be your Lord and Saviour. the ways of this world lead only to death. so , seek Now the Truth which is in Christ Jesus and follow God's will for your life....... today may be the day , will today be the day that you accept the Truth

Have any of you studied Mormon doctrine? How does it line up with the Bible, and only the Bible? -- none of their other books?

First, I have 2 basic premises.

1.) God, The Creator, is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent. He existed before all else and is eternal.

2.) Jesus is God -- whether you believe in the trinity or a mere duality, Jesus and God are one in the same. Or perhaps you believe God and Jesus are equivalent but not identical (this is a less common belief).

Based on the above, God took human form by impregnating the virgin, Mary, with the Holy Spirit and was born by her. He was destined to grow up and be The Christ, Jesus.

As Jesus, God performed many miracles and fulfilled the prophesies of Jewish scripture. This culminated in his crucifixion, burial and resurrection. This "sacrifice" was for the express purpose of redeeming mankind from sin.

Here's the crux of the question.

If God took human form, followed his own plan, died and "resurrected himself" -- where's the risk, the loss, the suffering, the humanity? HE'S GOD TO BEGIN WITH! The end was never in question. No sacrifice.

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." (Matthew 6:5-6)

Now, I'm not wondering how you justify church as a teaching institution - Jesus himself attended the synagogue after all, but what I am wondering is how my Christian friends integrate this quotation into their understanding of what church is supposed to be.

It seems to me that the quotation is an argument against the church as a worshipping community. There are, of course, quotations that do discuss communal worship. How ought we understand this quote in light of those and Christian practice since Jesus?

Are there things that Jews have done to provoke this hatred?
segregation?
success?
the professions they worked in (banking, ursury)?
any other reasons?

Is it purely down the the people persecuting them?
does christianity/islam teach that the jews are evil?
jealousy?
non-jews are pure evil?
any other reasons?

Or is it maybe a mixture of the 2?

Is there anything we can learn from the past that both Jews and non-jews can do to try and prevent a resurgence of anti-semitism?

Christianity has a more violent history and Buddhism has always been non-violent. (Didnt mean to sound off on Christians, if you dont like that replace it with Islam or Hinduism or Judiasm)

oh boy, here we go

1)Good morning people!!

2) Well some people are always complaining about fundies, still lately i've seen quite a few devoted atheists with clear anti religious ideas here in R&S! I'm wondering whats the ratio of fundamentalists atheists / total number of atheists. I'm guessing it must be at least as big as the same ratio for Christians or muslims, peheaps bigger.
(By fundamentalist Atheist, i'm talking about atheists with ideas that go against religious freedom. I'm quite aware atheists are not an organized group and i don't imply it any way in my question)

Thanks in advance for the answers.
Please avoid ofensive anwers, ok

Thats it, have a nice day
