In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate and Merciful
The reason that Christianity has far more adherents than Buddhism is because the old, tradional homelands of Buddhism in Asia are no longer Buddhist.
As most people know, Afghanistan was the citadel of Buddhism in Central Asia. This was the capital of everything Buddhist in that part of the world. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad (God bless him and give him peace) went to Afghanistan, as well as many other places, and didn't come back. They brought with them the message of Islam, and delivered it not with fancy pamphlets, not with discursive theological debates, not with a list of rules and telling people what not to do, and not with a belligerent demeanor. (They came to the famous Buddhist statues and let them be, a lesson that should be heeded by ignoramuses of our time that think they should be blown up.) But, rather, the people in this part of the world saw these people praying, saw how they treated others, saw that in every place they set foot they were part of the solution and not part of the problem. They saw the light of the Prophet (God bless him and give him peace) in the face of these people who absorbed his state. And so they wanted something from these people -- they wanted to be like them. They wanted their religion. They saw something better than what they had. In a couple years' time, this whole region of the world became entirely Muslim -- all from the goodly character of the companions of Muhammad (God bless him and give him peace). And so the lands that would otherwise be the heart of Buddhism in the world are not Buddhist, but are now Muslim. And this is why the Christians outnumber them by so many. And God Most High knows best. And all praise is due to God, Lord of all the worlds.

Organized Christianity is historically violent - and NOT the way that Christ would have wanted his message promoted.
You need to make a distinction between what a true follower of Christ is, versus a global idea of Christians, who are humans who just don't "get it".
CHRIST, was not violent. Christ was a big hippy rock star... minus the sex, drugs and rock and roll (; He was kind, gentle, compassionate, understanding and patient. If we all followed him, we would be right up there with the peaceful monks, wouldn't we? The only major difference would be that Christ called us to testify about how their life has changed through knowing Him - and coming to know the Creator through Him.
Some people take the evangelizing portion of Christianity to extremes. But the Christ part of Christianity is absolutely not violent.

Buddah preached non-violance and peace and was welcome by majority in Far-east.
External Violance is found in every religion at certain levels but Christianity promoted internal violance through Legatine Inquisitions and killed opposition! People had no option but to accept the faith without any question or opposition.
Pope Lucius-III (1184 AD)started rigorous Trial & Interrogation Courts throughout the Europe. The blood thursty officials were appointed to terrorise and kill opponents - The Rack Burning at the Stake was a Royal Whim! This practice was continued from 12th to 15th Century AD to promote Christianity!

Buddhism is based on the teachings of a very wise man named Buddha. He himself proclaimed that he was NOT God, and could not save any ones sou.
Christianity is based on Jesus. He DID claim to be God and backed it up[ with the fulfillment of over 400 Messianic prophecies from the Old Testament. He also was a very wise man who lived a peaceful life, and sacrificed himself to pay the full account of our transgressions against God.
Which would you rather do? Follow a mere man or follow the one who proved he is God? Follow the one with no eternal hope, or follow the savior of your soul?
In short, Jesus Christ the Messiah is the prevalence of Christianity.

The modern man and most of them is lazy, many things is best done by somebody else,so that i can enjoy the fruit of others',that goes with the brain, what is wrong with not working and yet can be saved from suffering? Do you think there is this kind of a deal? People are just too lazy to work for their own salvation or should i say lazy to think for themself.
there are two things that knows no boundary---the space and stupidity.NO on will and no one can save you but yourself.

Buddhism doesn't practice Proselitism, which is pushing someone to follow what you are following. Buddhism is a method to aknowledge Self Awareness, Self Responsibility, that's why you are free to follow it or not, get interested in it or not. Buddhism is fully respecting People and their personal Identities and doesn't mix ECONOMICAL/POLITICAL INTEREST with Faith and Spirituality. Inner Light.

It isn't more prevalent. Christians are in the minority. The majority favor the Eastern religions. Call the Eastern religeons what you will, but, the primary difference is that the East believes in some form of reincarnation, the West thinks we get one shot at this and you'd better get it right the first time.

Christianity has a more violent history because we are the ones that have been the victims of violence for centuries. We have been thrown to the lions, executed, beaten, crucified, imprisoned, and tortured. Therefore, the hatred is coming from elsewhere.
