The Gayatri Mantra belongs to three vedas as in Yajur Veda Mantra 22/9,30/2,36/3 Saam Veda Mantra 1462 and Rig Veda 3/62/10.This Mantra has been praised in Manu Smariti 2/81 to say it the mouth of God.
For getting full benefit , it is to be initiated by a Guru.
Meaning of Gayathri mantra:
"We meditate the God who is the base of lives' of universe, totally free from any sorrow, omnipresent, creates the universe, gives all pleasure/merriment,most supreme and acceptable, purest entity; May the God enlighten our minds with wisdom by His inspiration".
Here it is not out of place to mention that idea of a (one) Ved mantra is based on ideas of several Ved mantras. So in the Gaytri mantra, there are three things:
Bhuhu, Bhuvaha, Swaha, Savituhu, Bhargaha, Devsya are some qualities amongst unlimited qualities of God. These are called Stuti i.e., to say about God with His real qualities and not self made etc.
Secondly Dhimahi means meditation i.e., one should always sit in meditation and do hard and pious deeds for which he will have to study Vedas in full, while discharging moral duties towards family and nation.
In third, we pray God to enlighten our mind with wisdom.
This pious, Supreme and omnipotent Gayatri Mantra is a perfect worship of God to overcome the hidden foe and spread peace/ brotherhood and even to get Salvation. Rest will follow.

Gayatri Mantra is a sacred mantra. It is used to invoke Maa Gayatri who is considered as "veda mata"
It is made from a formula (om bhur bhuvah svah ) taken from the Yajurveda, and the verse 3.62.10 of the Rigveda (which is an example of the Gayatri mantra).
Since all the other three Vedas contain much material rearranged from the Rig Veda, the Gayatri mantra is found in all the four Vedas.

The Gayatri Mantra is a noticeably respected mantra in Hinduism, 2d in user-friendly terms to the chant Om. It incorporates the prefix :o? bh?r bhuva? sva? ? ???????????, a formulation taken from the Yajurveda, and the verse 3.sixty two.10 of the Rigveda (it is an occasion of the Gayatri mantra). on the grounds that all the different 3 Vedas comprise plenty cloth rearranged from the Rig Veda, the Gayatri mantra is modern-day in all of the 4 Vedas. The deva invoked in this mantra is Savitr, and for this reason the chant is termed S?vitr?

Gayathri Manthra first appears in Rig Veda III 62. 10.. Also appears in Yajur Veda 22.9, 30.2, 36.3 and Sama veda 1462. Since it is a Vedic Manthra, it needs to be initiated by a Guru. Mostly Father will initiate this after performing Upanayana (Holy Thread) ceremony to Son. Gayathri Manthra is basically a Prayer to Savithr or Sun God, But since the holy manthra is set in Anushtup Chandas which is also known as Gayathri metre, it is called Gayathri Manthra. It is essential that the Vedic Manthras should be chanted in the set intonation only. Gayathri Manthra forms an integral part of personal prayer called Sandhyavandanam performed trisandhya (morning, noon and evening) by the followers of Sanatana Dharma.

Humble Submission and Selfless Unity | Many of the greatest prayers, such as the Gayatri Mantra from the ancient rishis of India, the Fatiha which was received by the prophet Muhammad, and the Lord's Prayer which was given to us by Jesus, all share some magnificent similarities, illustrating the highest and noblest principles of prayer.
In each of these great prayers, the opening lines are a humble recognition that there is a Greater Power, and that all that we receive comes from the will of that Greater Power. Such prayer is an act of humble submission to That Which is beyond our understanding.
And the final lines of each of these great prayers, in humble submission to a Greater Power, acknowledge the gifts of understanding and awakening which are continually bestowed upon all of mankind, even though so few are even aware of the gifts. This humble recognition of the gifts that are constantly showered upon us is an essential element of the highest spiritual practices that we have been given, leading us toward the understand that we can and should rise above our differences and divisions, emerging from our delusion of separation and becoming aware of the Light of Unity which already shines upon all of creation.

(1)Gaayatri mantram is in all the 3 vedas-Rk,Yajus,Saaman(Atharva is not considered as a Religious Text by conservatives—Even in Bhagavd Geetha Lord Krishna and in sri.Acharya Sankara’s works they talk about Veda Trayee only.—trayee=(means) 3 )
(2) “Gayas Traayathay ithi Gaayatri”---Gayas means the five Vital driving forces –Udhaana=( driving force-DF of all the organs in the Face and Brain –Praana= DF Lungs ,Heart and partly nostrils---Vyaana=DF below nipples and above umbilicus=Digestive System—Apaana=DF below umbilicus=urino/genital-reproductive organs-Samaana =DF overall superviser of entire body including the left over organs like upper.lower limbs etc-not the organs per se but only the DF----Traayathay =(means) protects and sustains—ithi=this (Mantram) is Gaayatri.
(3) Gayatri is of 24 letters(Chatur Vihumsathi—Vihumsathi means 1/5 of 100=20+ chatur=4—20+4=24)-They represent Chatur Vihumsathi(24) tatwas of the body as described in Saankya Philosophy.—the Mantram is:-“Chatur Vihumsathi-Akshara –Tripadha- Sat Kukshihi”—here Aksharam has two meanings –one =letters another:-Ksharm=destructible—Aksharam=Non-destructible—Tripadha=(means)divided into into 3 legs=portions ,each portion is of 8 letters.—sat kukshihi =100 eyes.it is recited in “Gaayatrm Chandas(metre)=articulation of 24 letters in Hindu micro Units of Time. Lots-Lots of information is available in Vedam and sri.Yaagjnavalkya’s Bhaashyam(Gloss)-I can go on write what I know-But I don’t want to “Bore” you.So I stop here
Aksharam=Non-destructible and Tripadhaa=divided into 3 legs are missing in the nain post
