Were they the low bidders on the contract?

I am faced with a paradox and, as a student of the sciences, I strongly dislike paradoxes. My religion is Christianity and I am also a scientist. I recently started having conversations with others in the field of science and find that they are immediately averse to my faith operating under the false assumption that my science is flawed as they are under the assumption that the christian faith in incompatible with science. This troubles me greatly, but I will not choose between my faith and science. There is such an incredible amount of science in the bible from the flaming bush seen by Moses to the great plagues of Egypt to the concept of creation to the walls of Jericho falling down and more. So my question is this: Why, in the minds of scientists and christians both, is science and christianity irreconcilable and what can be done as a scientist and a christian to reconcile the two and still be respected as a scientist?

I say that unless you have 3 wintesses who heard God's message to you, you have no right to claim God spoke to you.

This would cut down on the number of people who commit crimes and purport to be carrying out God's will, or at the very least eliminate those awkward moments at dinner parties when they start telling you about their message from God, their guardian angel or the Virgin Mary.

Failure to follow this law will result in you being locked up as a mental patient.

I have heard or read somewhere that several of the Psalms and at least one book of the Bible were written by angels. Anyone else know about this, and if so which are the passages referenced?

About the way I see things, I ask God every night to show me the truth, if my dreams, obe's ect are from satan then to show me, teach me the truth of it all, what religion is right ect, I have begged him to show me over and over. He seems to keep me on the same path, more dreams, the only difference is I am not scared of them anymore. but nothing has changed except the peace I feel over my life. I refuse to go to church, I feel most not all in the church are hypocrites. I did say not all. But I feel peace, total peace in my choices. so am I wrong, or should I listen to what I believe God is telling me?

when the day comes where we all have to come before God. She also said that I was not humble enough to accept their religion. It saddens me to learn that this is the way she preaches her faith and I'm more certain now that they are misguided and deluded. How should I tell her nicely that this is not for me?

We all have our own reality- the way we perceive the world to be, not the way we want it to be necessarily, but how we think it operates, what God/the Universe is, etc.

Most people think there is an absolute truth that is true whether we believe it and see it correctly or not.

Many religions claim their reality is definitly the same as the absolute truth.

If this describes your beliefs, how do you know your reality is the absolute truth?

Isn't all we have our own perceptions? How can you be sure then?

was the first church to talk about this "event" now I am curious, do all Christian doctorines talk about the Rapture?

and I have been watching Jack Van impe, and I am so confused.

he uses the different stories in the bible, takes passages, and prooves the Rapture, end times with these passages, yet when I read the bible I do not see what he is talking about, the stories I read, don't come out with it. So where does the Rapture Concept come from?

Doesn't that mean that those who say it is impossible to keep the 10 Commandments, are lying? If what Paul said is true, or are they calling Paul a lier.

I'm curious to know if the Christians who are so adamant that the Pledge of Allegiance contain a reference to God would mind if "Allah" were substitiuted for "God". After all, Allah is simply another name for God, so there should be no problem, right?

Of course, if Christians object to this, perhaps someone could explain the nature of their objection? Surely it couldn't be that Christians are against freedom of religion--like they claim so many others, such as Atheists(I'm one) are--right?

Anyone and everyone is invited to answer this question.

This is odd. I have never known any atheists except in college. There were two of them who also happen to be homosexual (my gay friend's friends). Other than that, I don't know of any atheists except the ones on Yahoo Answers. I have conversed with my co-workers, etc enough to know they had faith in some religion. Why do they hate Christians so much and why can't they just not say the Pledge of Alligence? Why do they want to force their atheism on us???

...that when someone mentions a god, they're talking about the god of the Christian bible?

There are many other gods out there, you know. Any one of them could be real, or none at all.
