I've been studying different ideas and concepts of the christian faith. I've been on a journey comparing what I learn with what I've been taught. Some things are right on but there are many things that don't jive. I can't seem to focus on any one thing so maybe you all can give me some ideas.

Rest assured if I find something interesting you know I'll post it here for you all to chime in with your answers!

Are christians and muslims equal?
Are pagans and spiritualists seeking a path that is different, but not bad?

In that light, is a secular humanist just as spiritual as someone who believes in "spirit?"

It seems that more than half the population of Norway & Sweden are non-believers.
http://www.adherents.com/largecom/com_atheist.html
http://www.pitzer.edu/academics/faculty/zuckerman/atheism.html

Given their low crime rates and lack of involvement in contemporary wars, it would seem that non-believers are a bit more peaceful and have higher moral values than the population of a country like the USA where the 45% of the population believe in a literal interpretation of the bible.

Norway & Sweden are both wealthy countries where healthcare is considered a right rather than a privelege.

When I've raised this issue before, I've been told that Satan has the occupants of these countries fooled.

Considering how much more peaceful they are than typical religious countries like the USA, does that suggest then that Satan has more power and influence than God?

Or does it suggest he's more civilised in how he wants to see people live out their lives?

If someone is happy with the path he or she has chosen in life, why force them to believe otherwise?
As Christians I know you believe it's your duty to save us from "burning in hell", but why do you find it so hard to understand that there are actually people out there who DO NOT believe that there is a hell, why dont you let them be?
And Atheists, I know you believe the religious on this site are ignorant and stupid, but ignorance is bliss, and if their beliefs gives them security, them why keep mocking them?
I think that no matter what your beliefs you should do unto others as you want done unto yourself. No one likes being bullied, insulted or having ideas propagated to them, so why do you insist on doing it?
Please explain to me the method behind all your madness.

Associated Press

LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy -- Pope Benedict reasserted the primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation.

Now, for the Pope to make this claim it is a very bold and aggressive move, how do you feel about it?
If the Catholic Church is the very first church of Christ, is he correct?

No idea what this 'all time' business refers to as I thought God was outside the contraints of time as we know it- but anyway, I'm going to assume it means 'infinity' as most of us can understand that we don't understand something that's uncreated and will exist forever... I could go round in circles with this one, but I'll shut up.

Anyway-

If the Qur'an has always been with God, then why is the Qur'an very context specific and full of abbrogations? It seems that for something that's always been with God, God sure changes His mind over things, for example alcohol. Why was alcohol suddenly deemed an inappropriate drink to consume when His previous Prophets would drink.

I've got some questions for everyone! :) I ask these with all sincerity, and no disrespect meant.

Christians:

1. According to both the Bible and Christianity itself, VERY FEW are getting into Heaven when they die. Knowing this, how can you be completely sure you are one of those very few who actually get in? (And when I say very few, I mean like 1 % of humanity, supposedly)

2. WHY do you love God? Without stating Biblical references, without stating you were raised that way, etc. A very personal reason to YOU is what I am looking for.

3. Do you love the Old Testament version of God? Wrathful, angry, violent; and if so, why? Remember no Bible verse.

Muslims:

1. Is the passage in the Koran that speaks of killing infidels/unbelievers true? And if so, do you agree?

2. Why are women in Islam treated so much lower than men (seemingly)? Why do they "need" to be disciplined, or even hit, for that matter? Do you agree that a woman and children are a man's property

So why aren't the followers and believers in Jesus Jewish?

Isn't that complete disregard for 'the Lord'?

Aren't Christians (I know the name comes from Christ) insulting Jesus by saying his religion isn't the 'correct' religion and then creating their own to suit them?

Again, genuine confusion not a dig.

oh, and whilst I'm here, where does the name Christ come from? Was this his name? or was it just made up to suit?

if catholics have to pray through mary, then catholics VOIDING the work done on the cross which brings us directly to GOD..

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18).

1 Thessalonians 5:9 "For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

For those who put their faith in Jesus: He gave them the right to be the children of God... God Himself was the one who made them His children (John 1:12-13).

Romans 8:34 ... It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Jesus makes intercession for us. NOT MARY! please obey the Word of God ok?

There are many translations of the Bible, with Christian churches interpreting it differently. The original writers of the Bible, for example, used the Hebrew verb "bara," which English speakers translate as "create." However, the term "to create out of nothing" does not exist in the Hebrew language.

The term "bara" means "to expand, fatten, or fill up." The original writers of the Bible said that God "filled up" the universe. Christians say He created it out of nothing. They must, therefore, have a different God than the ancient Hebrews, for to them, no such God has ever existed.

Moreover, in no translation of the Bible does it say that God created water. Rather, it says there was darkness upon the face of the deep, which he later divided with the firmament. It says the earth was without form and void, but not that it was nonexistent.

God did NOT create the world out of nothing. This is a false belief of many. If this is wrong, how much of traditional Christian belief is wrong?
