I've been studying different ideas and concepts of the christian faith. I've been on a journey comparing what I learn with what I've been taught. Some things are right on but there are many things that don't jive. I can't seem to focus on any one thing so maybe you all can give me some ideas.

Rest assured if I find something interesting you know I'll post it here for you all to chime in with your answers!

Meh - I won't narrow it down to my faith. I want to know about other people's ideas too. It helps me to have the big picture in my mind.

If you want to read some Chrisitan theology that is different than anything you've been taught, but somehow right on mark, check out Open Theism.
Books I would recommend:
The Openness of God: A Biblical Challenge to the Traditional Understanding of God by Clark Pinnock
Providence, Evil, and the Openness of God by William Hasker
The God Who Risks: A Theology of Providence by John Sanders

A website with articles: http://www.opentheism.info/

So you're focusing on the Christian faith, right? How about narrowing down on some concepts of Catholicism? I've heard critics of the religion say before that Catholics should not be considered Christians because they, in a way, practise Idolatry through praying before statues and replicas of Saints and the like. I know this isn't so, but I'd be interested in finding out if there is an actual relgious basis on the allegation, or if it's just pointless criticism. ^_^

Edit: Btw, I don't believe it's idolatry. I'm just curious on how they came up with that notion. ^_~

There are alerts alongside the way. each and every so often i'm getting a demonstration that broadcasts, "you are able to opt to stretch with the intention to strengthen." Or if i circulate to stand a tough time, i circulate to get carry of a few component to draw close onto for that ingredient, inspite of if it truly is a demonstration that broadcasts, "you're sturdy." meaning, i will stay on the disaster intact. the journey isn't uninteresting. Look at what the Bible says about the start of beliefs that the One True God does not approve.
(Genesis 10:8-10) And Cush became father to Nim′rod. He made the start in becoming a mighty one in the earth. 9 He displayed himself a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah. That is why there is a saying: “Just like Nim′rod a mighty hunter in opposition to Jehovah.” 10 And the beginning of his kingdom came to be Ba′bel and E′rech and Ac′cad and Cal′neh, in the land of Shi′nar.

this is why Revelation calls false religion Babylon the Great.

(Revelation 18:4-5) And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.

Study it up and save yourself.
