"All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you."

"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NIV

Apparently it is not enough that she was raped, he must marry her and rape her over and over again. Why women believe in the Bible is beyond all understanding.

I'm just curious because I always see movies and other stuff contradicting Catholics, but I never see anything about other religions. Why is it people only seem to be interested in finding the 'truth' about the Catholic religion?

Over the years, I have heard many atheists say, “How could a loving, merciful God send his people, his very own creation, to hell?” But then I hear the very same atheists say “well, even if there is a hell, that’s where I’d want to go anyway, because I wouldn’t want to live the rest of eternity in the presence of a tyrannical despot.”

WHAT??? This would prove that God IS loving and merciful, seeing as this is what they want. Please elucidate...

My husband, who is not Catholic, and I want to baptise our 3 week old twin daughters, Ruth and Rachael in the Catholic Church, as I am Catholic and he wants to become a Catholic.

The problem is his family, who are Baptists, refuse to come to the Baptism if we get them baptised in the Church, they did not even come to the wedding because it was in the Church 2 years ago, we want the girls brought up in the Catholic faith.

I have no family on my side

How do we convince the family this is what we want without hurting them and tell them this is our decision and how we feel?

Jñāna (also spelled Gñāna; Devanagari ज्ञान) is the Sanskrit term for knowledge or philosophy. In Hinduism it means true knowledge, the knowledge that one's self (atman) is identical with Ultimate Reality Brahman. In Buddhism, it refers to pure awareness that is free of conceptual encumbrances, and is contrasted with vijnana, which is a moment of 'divided knowing'.
Jnana yoga is one path (marga) towards moksha (liberation) of Yoga. There are other paths for different temperaments such as Bhakti and Karma Yoga. ~Wikipedia

What would you do? in this time and age? call a mental institute or say oh welcome Jesus (pbuh) why don't you come in and have some wine.. btw where did the holy grail go?

I am guessing most SANE people will go with the former choice and call a mental institute!
Then why do you believe this from some one a long time ago?

Don't even say miracles because you were not there to observe them! and could have a perfectly normal explanation for them!

( no offense to anyone just wondering)

see my previous question re the Jew s coming from

Sadducees--cause the Sad's also believed that there was no

resurrection from the dead --so they rejected Jesus of course -

-but the Pharisees would not have a problem with that --there were sooo many eye witnessess too.

so the Pharisees tended to become Christian the Sad's did not and remain stubbborn and blind to this day

Everyone is familiar with mindless practice of Quran recitation. Its that errie cackling of arabic, sometimes accompanied by wind instruments, that many movie soundtracks often insert to convey the specter of horrors to come or evil on its way.

Reciting the Quran is a mindless practice. Its the opposite of "digging into the word", its the chanting of the word. The idea is that the Quran is the literal words of Allah and Allah surely loves to hear his words slavishly cackled on loudspeaker.

The practice is also intended to create reverence for the language of arabic, making it into God's errie language and arabs into his chosen people. Its amazing when you hear non-arab Muslims spit back what is essentially the arab supremacist doctrines of Islam.

Why do Muslim who dont understand a word of arabic neverthless spend massive chunks of their lives learning to do nothing more than mindlessly cackle it...because they have accepted arab supremacy, knowingly or unknowingly.

after a very terrible incident in my life, I told God I would dedicate my life to Him as a Nun. I never did, does God hold me to it? Am I obligated after swearing I would?

Who should I see about this?

Job 36:27

"He draws up the drops of water which distill as rain to the streams, the clouds poor down their moisture, and abundant showers fall on man kind." (The water is drawn up, then becomes moisture in the clouds, then falls down... And this is thousands of years ago... )

26:7
"He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing." (For centuries, no one knew how the earth was in space. They imagined it hanging or sitting upon something. Imagine, if they believed it was flat... but how the Bible, written plenty before that, knew about the suspention over nothing... I dunno...)

Ec 1:6
"Blowing toward the south, Then turning toward the north, The wind continues swirling along; And on its circular courses the wind returns." (Wind currents? They knew about wind currents? People didn't even know the world was round, but TOT knew about circular wind currents?)

It might be just something I’ve noticed but, when I hear a preacher talk to his flock, especially the ones that attack evolution, the tone of their voices seem to change; when attacking evolution it’s a harsh, authoritarian voice with no doubt whatsoever, but when it’s something like the 10 commandments, it’s a soft, pleading tone like that of a loving parent disobeyed by a rebellious child. This is a pretty effective trick, does it take long to learn?

yeah you got hugged
now the Pangelism is gonna seep into your pores
no amount of washing will get it out
and you may start to feel the need to hug others and be more tolerant and respectful
you may feel a little queasy at first but dont worry .... thats just love
when you get used to it , you will understand its power and be able to put it to use by spreading it to others

MWAAHHAAAAHHAAA !!!

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican said on Tuesday Christian denominations outside Roman Catholicism were not full churches of Jesus Christ.

...described Christian Orthodox churches as true churches, but suffering from a "wound" since they do not recognize the primacy of Pope.

..."wound is still more profound" in Protestant denominations.

"Despite the fact that this teaching has created no little distress ... it is nevertheless difficult to see how the title of 'Church' could possibly be attributed to them," it saidThe document said the Council's opening to other faiths recognized there were "many elements of sanctification and truth" in other Christian denominations, but stressed only Catholicism had all the elements to be Christ's Church...

The text refers to "ecclesial communities originating from the Reformation," a term used to refer to Protestants and Anglicans.

I didn't have enough room for the whole article, but you get the point.
