Faith is only as good as what you ahve faith in. Those who seek the truth are given a gift called faith andf through faith comes revelation and a personal relationship with God.

But seriously, one is light and the other is dark. You hope in things that you have faith in and you've seen some evidence of it being real. With willful ignorance, you won't face reality when all the evidence points to your idea being wrong. That could turn into faith if there was any hope in a miracle happening that would reverse all the evidence. You know, like a real live fairy, unicorn or big foot being discovered and seen by many. Faith can also turn into willful ignorance when it comes to things like armageddon and Jesus' Second Coming. Sure, the evidence points to it, but the hour has been growing late for over a hundred years. Maybe that hour has already passed and nothing happened or armageddon was a thousand or so years ago. This is where willful ignorance comes in and turns into a pit bull that won't stop barking all night no matter what you tell it.

I would say that faith is a hope for humans to be more than that they really are, regardless of the ridiculousness. Willful ignorance is more like Pascal's wager.

It's possible for young kids to accept things on faith. Once they're older and they're confronted with arguments against their faith, however, it could be said that persisting is just willful ignorance.

Not a lot when you try to subvert science and education in an attempt to remain in a state of ignorance and keep others there with you, namely the young..

Faith is believing in the absence of evidence either way. [God]
Wilful ignorance is denying what is there in spite of the evidence. [Science]
With enough ignorance, denial, scientific illiteracy, misinformation and arrogance, practicing both must be easy..

willfull ignorance is ignoring bush's years of doing coke, cheating on his wife, his business dealings with the bin laden family and his sec charges, because he became born again and opposed gay marriage.
faith is the strength to stand up at a public meeting and say there shouldn't be a prayer because it violates the first amendment's seperation of church and state, it's having the guts to live in the open instead of in hiding, it's speaking the truth without fear of reprisal from the politicaly correct. it's taking your loved one off the machine because you know each day their on it robs them of their dignity and makes money for the hospital, and leaving it up to God is really taking them off it. it's facing surgery you know you need instead of praying for God to fix you, it's knowing someone is being brutally beaten in their home and going over to save them instead of staying out of it or just hoping the police take him away.
it's telling the police who the criminals are to protect your neighborhood inspite of the don't snitch rule.
