Who said the following quote?

O Lord!
If I worship you from fear of Hell, cast me into Hell.
If I worship you from desire for Paradise, deny me Paradise

As a person that believes in evolution, I believe the strongest drive we have is for survival, seconded by the desire to reproduce. Both involve, often brutal, violent and self centerd acts. Christianity however appeals to the higher intellect, the ability to be insightful, sensitive to others, caring and compassionate. The difficulty in taking up Christs teaching is that your instinct will always go back to the violent, aggressive, unthinking animal. Jesus and God asked us to get above that., to deny our base, animal instincts. Tall, tall order for most.

many Jehova witnesses Understand that the bible does not teach the trinity. The new testament actually teaches the godhead in 3 verses.
So what is the difference between the godhead and the trinity?

this question is to CATHOLICS, and iamcatholic....

can you imagine this happening on Judgment Day:

(Jesus appears in clouds of glory)

Jesus : who are you mary? now, tell and testify to the whole of creation who you really are.

mary: alright my Lord, i will.

Jesus: go on.

all creation stays silent.

mary: (shouts) i am the Queen of HEAVEN and the Mother of God! I am also rightfully the one you should pray through!

do you really think mary would daringly acknowledge in front of Jesus, that she is the QUEEN OF HEAVEN and that she is the MOTHER OF GOD on Judgement Day OR would Jesus immediately send her to hell if she did claim that she is both Mother of God and Queen of heaven???

please do not give IRRELAVANT answers.

I follow no religious creed or dogma. Having therefore only taken a cursory glance at the Religion & Spirituality section, I am amazed at the vitriol and bile spat out by "atheists". Surely, if these people believed what they profess, they would have no interest in this category. It's as if they feel a religious fervour to "convert" those with alternate belief systems.

I have seen in many questions it is mentioned as SAIN instead of Sai and MAAN instead of Maa. This may be correct and the practice of some people. What is the exact reason origin for such usage. As I am not aware of this, this question.

I do not eat pork myself and I am a Christian. How does kosher food differ from regular food? I know all blood is removed. But is it acceptable for Orthodox Jewish people to accept blood transfusions since they do not eat blood? I mean no disrespect, I am just curious and do not know much about the Jewish diets. Thank you.

what do you think Mary will say when Jesus appears in clouds of glory and its time for Judgment?

will she say:

1) Lord, look at the catholics, they obeyed me in praying through me, so that they will be blessed. i am the Mother of God, and the Queen of Heaven rightly, and Lord, please accept them into heaven!

2) Lord, i did not teach anyone to pray through me, or venerate me, or worship me, because Lord, i am humble and You alone are worthy of worship and honour. I am not the Mother of God, nor the Queen of Heaven. for there is only One King and One God, You Christ.

3) look Lord, now that it is time for You to judge humankind, accept the catholics, because they know that i am not a sinner like You Lord. and they called me Holy Virgin, which i am rightly.

4) Lord, i am a sinner too. i did not claim to be sinless. Only You, the Lamb of God, is sinless, but took on the sins of mankind to Yourself!

I'm Catholic and I go to church every Sunday...I starting drinking but I feel kind of bad because I go to church. I mean I don't pretend to be all holy and a saint. Is it a sin to get drunk? The 10 commandments say nothing about drinking so I wonder...well please answer...

I keep watching these "movies", reading blogs, about Horus, Dionysus, and other ancient gods. All claiming how similar they were to Jesus. Saying they were born around December 21, had twelve disciples, born a virgin birth, were killed, and resurrected. I have tried researching a whole lot. Only to find that I can't even begin to see how this information isn't an outright lie. I am not trying to disprove the information, or be negative to the source. It's just that it is very interesting information, and only disappointing to find that it seems to be completely made up. It bothers me, because I keep seeing it all over the internet. Did someone just lie, and everyone copycat, or is there some source that I am not finding?

Instead of buying that new yacht, or Harley, or going on that vacation to Disney land----why not give to the homeless? Why not make a donation to cancer research? We all could do alot more. The homeless are a reminder, that we are not coming together as God's people and giving of the wealth that he has given us. They suffer because we do not share.
If you are going to blame God for all the suffering, then you should put aside your arrogance and realize that you must blame God for all the love, joy, and happiness as well.

I came to the conclusion that god doesnt exist for a good reason, i came to this conclusion HONESTLY. Most of us are good, kind people who have done no more harm than any of you christians, so my question to you is:

Does god punish people who are kind AND honest? If not, then why?
