It has not been proved that we are evolved from apes. Your friend was talking about evolution, and you must be very careful and wary of believing what you are first told.
After all, you are only hearing the opinion of one single person, and the opinion of just one person cannot be taken as 100% truth.
A lot of people, when something cannot be logically explained, give credit, or blame, to magical, mythical gods because they know no better and cannot come up with a better answer; but that doesn`t mean they are telling the truth, they are just telling YOU what THEY believe.
The worst person to do that was someone who called himself JESUS and claimed he was the son of a god.
In those days people knew very little about anything, and what they didn`t know, they made up.
He ended up by being crucified, and if that is the reward for religion - well, I don`t think I`ll join, would you?
Simple, isn`t it?
Good luck

There are lots of ideas as to how we arrived on earth.
I think that you should research it for yourself, have a look at all the theories, religious and otherwise, then you can make an informed decision.
You've made a good start by coming on here - you'll get lots of opinions and points of view, some good, some bad, but all valid.
Don't just believe your friends, or the teachers, or your parents, or your church - work it out for yourself.

I think people should go to school for more than one day, that seems such a short time. But if it was for one day, then the asker presumably hadn't had time to adapt to the hurly burly of school life so came away with the false notion that somebody had said that 'we' had evolved from apes. My theory also explains why the asker, having only received one day's education, cannot spell 'preach'.

they don't teach you evolution at school, they should though, just because your friend has common sense don't be sarcastic about it. the real answer is we did evolve from apes years and years ago and humans are a type of animal and the Adam and eve thing? that's just a story with a moral, ask anyone religious they'll tell you that.
And i should also tell you that no human actually walked the earth first, dinasours ruled for billions of years.

You are growing up and will enter the wild world .Once there you will find many areas of dispute and discussion between science and religions about creation and the development of the world. Some of the theories are compatible others are completely contrary to your beliefs. You should be aware these differences in opinion exist. By all means stick to your own beliefs but also accept that others may think differently to you. You may think they are wrong but what you must do is to allow them to hold opinions different to yours. if they wish to.This also applies to many areas of belief and culture and is one of the reasons for some of the problems in the world today as people are not tolerant of those whose beliefs and customs differ to their own.

The ape theory is a better one than an almighty being that has never shown us that he is here.
Remember in the days where Jesus was telling people he was the son of God, people didnt know why the sun came up, or how a rainbow was made, or what the stars and the moon were.
I would rather hear about a theory which is much more plausable than the god theory

No one can say for sure, because either way, the science of man, and the faith of man are both ideologies, and beliefs. No one can tell you that what you think is wrong, and that you shouldn't believe that, and visa versa. Evolution is a theory, the Darwinian theory, you will hear about this theory in any biology class at least once. Remember Sciences are the observations of man, and man's surroundings, Religion is the beliefs of mans surrounding put into the form of faith.

sure if you go into Science- they tell you that we were developed from apes.
and then you go into R.E (Religious Education)- and we're told that God made Adam, and then Eve- with one of Adam's rib's. . .
(well that was when i was in high school, all those years ago......)
you just basically have to be open minded, and go for what your heart believes in....
we get told so many things, but its all about finding yourself and what you believe in, do some research, see which you believe in, without listening to other influences from others, just decide for yourself what you think seems right. we all believe in different things

Firstly your friend was not preaching just telling you about Evolution which may or may not be the explanation for how we came to be here. God hasn't actually said anything - you are quoting works which were done by men who also don't know how we got here. I think it is perfectly OK for your friend to speak of this just as it is OK for you to believe that God made the earth in 7 days. Its always puzzled me however why, when God had done so much work, did he then leave it for millions of years before creating us.

Well, I think this could be a wind-up, because it sounds like a crude, straw-man version of the creationist stance, as parodied by Landoverbaptists et al. But assuming you are for real, I think you need to acquaint yourself with the facts of evolution and the overwhelming evidence for it in such diverse fields as the fossil record, comparative anatomy and genetics. For example, we did not evolve from apes, we ARE apes! We share a common ancestor, and 98% of our genetic material, with modern apes. The ape-like ancestor of humans was also the human-like ancestor of modern apes!
Oh, and I also think you need to use the spell check!
