Your cursory glance entitles you to yet another uninformed opinion.
And yes atheists and agnostics and skeptics have their place in this category, as they have a rich spiritual and ethical life - they just have no need for religious and organized delusions.

Read more carefully. This section is entitled Religion and Spirituality, NOT Religious and Spiritual, NOT Christianity, or anything else like that. ANYONE of ANY belief can discuss the TOPICS of Religion and Spirituality. Atheists tend to be well-educated on the subject, and are also some of the most spiritual people on the planet.
Most atheists couldn't care less what others choose to believe, as long as it isn't forced upon them. If Christian fundies would mind their own spiritual business, it wouldn't be necessary for atheists to educate them about atheism.

I am agnostic, the jury is out for me. However, I have many atheist friends as well as many religious friends. My atheist friends have problems with the fact that God(s) or those who believe in God(s) have had such an impact on our lives. So many laws are based on the Bible here in the UK. If we were a secular state everyone would get along much better, but sadly, whilst the head of state (the Queen) remains the head of the Church of England, then I guess atheist will be out spoken about their views. Remember many atheists were forced to study religious studies/education for all there school life without a sentence uttered about atheism, they may well have been Baptised, they may well have been forced to go to Sunday School - now in adulthood they can speak out about the repression they faced!

A fair point but what comes around goes around, the theist have spent years telling the atheist their going to hell because we don't believe, so why can't we tell them our truth?
Its not a fervour just an intense dislike of their dogamtic beliefs
I would like to issue with you on the basis of athiesm being a religion as it is based on faith, Theism is the belief in one God as the creator and ruler of the universe, without rejection of revelation, which would requrie faith, Atheism is the doctrine or belief that there is no God, conversley requring no faith.
I have no desire to convert anyone, just point the flaws in their thinking and the harm that blind faith does and the backward attitude of religion towards progression of science, I mean in the USA they teach kids creationism instead of evolution, the myth that a spurpeme being created the earth in 7 days in nonsense and don't give the allegorocal arguement because that equally as flawed.

I think the atheists here are interested mainly in the terrible harm religion does, and many have probably been victim of it directly in some way.
Remember, George Bush actually went on record saying that he believed all athiests should be deported from the USA - the religious are truly scary and dangerous people.

Pointing out logical fallacies on a theists' belief system is not exactly an act of trying to convert someone. Too bad if thats what you theists feel. Atheists are selling no religion; we're not preaching any god for you to worship.

Yes you are right on a lot of what you say, I'm glad that you have pointed out that it is a religion. I'm a spiritualist and would never try and convert anybody, and although i believe you are wrong in your beliefs, that is your choice for me to react with rudeness would only go against my own beliefs.
What ever we believe in we should all have the belief and that we should all be able to live in peace, be able to help each other, and not let our personal beliefs get in the way.
Most religion is about greed, and power, we need to forget this and have faith in what we believe in, and faith in ourselves
Love & Peace

i don't follow any religion but feel the existence of a supernatural force as yet not defined. This why i go on R&S to see what other people think about it all, my rational to this question is split:
(a) Atheists are entitled to there own opinion, they choose not to believe, but saying that why are they interested in condeming everyone else on R&S, or even participating in the subject
(b) I have seen some pretty disrespectful answers given by Christians but there are alot more from Atheists

We are fanatical in the way we live a life based on evidence. What makes us angry (fanatical to you) is the fact that most Christians etc are lazy. They simply accept an indoctrination since childhood without a single shred of evidence.
This on its own would not be so bad were it not for that fact that the more gullible take it further and inflict unbelievably cruel and barbaric acts on innocent people, all in the name of their particular god.
That, my friend, is why we may appear fanatical to you.

No Atheism is not a religion. I do not try and convert the indoctrinated and I would defend the liberty of consenting adult creationists to practise whatever intellectual perversions they like in the privacy of their own homes; but it is also necessary to protect the young, innocent and vulnerable, along with a desire to redress the damage to those who feel they are sinners and consequently may partake in futile self flagellation..
