Yes it is and it is especially so in the long term. We are all descended from a long line of the most baddass toughest, and quickest to adapt creatures on the planet.
From the dawn of life nature has been bloody and vicious. Everything, even the plants are in a perpetual state of war to see who will survive and who will die. If you are a vegan you eat plants, it you are not vegan you eat other animals. We used to fear getting eaten by other animals in our turn. We have immune systems to defend ourselves against microbe that want to eat us and some plants defend themselves from getting eaten.
Yes life is about who gets to eat and who gets to be served.
This is called Agonism.
