well supposedly your body is a temple of God and where he dwells. and whatever you do to your body you do it in the temple of God. So yes it is a sin, because you are damaging and harming yourself and there fore God.

The bible does warn against it. Because of the problems that might arise. But the bible does not ban drinking alcohol. After all, Jesus turned water to wine at the wedding in Caana.
John 2; 3-11

(1 Timothy 5:23) Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness.

(Ephesians 5:18) Also, do not be getting drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery, but keep getting filled with spirit,

(Proverbs 20:1) Wine is a ridiculer, intoxicating liquor is boisterous, and everyone going astray by it is not wise.

(Proverbs 23:20) Do not come to be among heavy drinkers of wine, among those who are gluttonous eaters of flesh.

Yeah I would say it is a sin to get drunk.... scripture mentions it:

Ephesians 5:18
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. (NIV)

1 Thessalonians 5:7-8
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. (NIV)

Proverbs 23:31-33
Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things. (NIV)

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Basically it is the same as everything food and drink wise... Moderation is key.

That "feeling kind of bad" is your conscience telling you that you may be approaching the boundaries of immoral behavior.

This is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

2290 The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine. Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others' safety on the road, at sea, or in the air.

Your getting drunk may be close to being immoral, but it can lead to other sins, due to the reduced inhibitions as the Catechism points out.

Alcohol is fine, when taken in moderation. You must know yourself, and your limits and be able to have enough self-mastery to know when enough is enough.

It is not a sin to get drunk. It may be an unhealthy habit if done all the time, but not a sin. Being a person with no religious ties, I guess I might not have an answer that would relate to your particular religion, but really now, how can you live your whole life without indulging in a little bit of fun? People have been drinking for thousands of years. Yes, even in the bible was wine a part of life. It all comes down to learning to control yourself to partake in moderation.

Drinking a glass of wine a day can be healthy. If your drinking causes your body harm, then you should cut down or stop. Putting aside your body as a temple for God, Intelligent and discipline will do you good in your life.

well the bible does not really states anything about drinking with regards to whether it is bad or not but i would like you to take this into account. sometimes we have to read between the lines. our body is the holy temple of god and drinking does not give any glory to god, thus, drinking should not be done by people who really love him and who wants nothing but to bring glory to his name.

with all due respect, drinking does not serve anything good to us and more so to our body. you may enjoy drinking at this present point in time but what about tomorrow? what about the after effects that it will cause you?

god bless! =)

I believe sinning is what you make it. Of course the 10 commandments are sins, but in terms of drinking, I think it's all how you look at it. If you're drinking and feeling bad about it, then you are probably letting yourself down more than God. Even Jesus drank wine! : )

Well drinking isn't a sin. But the bible speaks about the Holy Spirit living inside of you (God's gift when Jesus went up to heaven). And you have to preserve its presence inside of you. So getting drunk tarnishes what lives inside of you

yes its a sin to get drunk. you can drink as long as you dont get drunk. i think it was Paul that said dont forget a lil wine for your stomach. new testament talks bout getting drunk and so does proverbs. if you cant stop then try not to do it. not only that, but alcoholics start out that way.

To have a drink is not, but to be drunk is, God said to be of sober mind and watch for his return.
The Bible also teaches to do everything in moderation, if your drunk, that is not in moderation.
