Tell me what you think about this crap. This is a man who lives in a town close to where I live. He claims that God delivered new revelations to him via an electronic chair--"God's Comfort Chair" as he calls it. He handed out 7 copies of the booklet he called "God's New Revelations." He said it came to him on 7/7/07 at 7:07 a.m. He says he was ordered to deliver this message. He claims Genesis was written by the Devil. This booklet steers people away from the Holy Bible, saying that it is no longer relevant. He says organized religion corrupted Jesus' story. He says women have recieved unfair treatment because of Genesis. He also delivered what he called "new proverbs", 27 in all.
I think this is bull. What do you think?

Socially? Morally? Financially?

Psychedelics has enlightened me much more than any science or religion. I know there is much more out there than our brains can close to even sensing. I was a completley spiritually blind at one point

For all that deny Christ and his Principles When Christ comes and asked why you denied him after he gave you chance after chance what will be your answer? What will you say when he proves to you who he is after you decided on your own that he is not real? Is it really worth taking the chance? I would like a real answer and not your insults. He said though are unexcusable!!!

Reading up on this section of Y!A I find posts about 'being a god for a day', 'being immortal', etc.
Is anyone actually seriously considering this option here & why? What does it mean to such a person to reach the state of God?

What would be your responsibility as a God? Really curious.

Any ideas.... post.

if god had found more peaceful ways of punishishing sinners in the bible, and less extreme ways of testing his believers, i.e. asking abraham to kill his son, do you think we'd have as many whackos today thinking it's ok to kill in the name of the lord? they obviously got the idea that it was ok from somewhere.

Hello, all:

My mother died on June 3rd after several months of battling lung cancer. Her death was exactly what she had hoped for -- peaceful and pain-free -- and for almost a month afterwards I was blessedly numb, but now the emotional anesthetic has worn off and I am full of a sorrow that is leaching away all my energy and lies in my bones and my flesh like leaded sand.

Do you have any words of encouragement you could share with me? Religious passages, prayers, poems, funny links to offer distraction... anything would be appreciated. I have to work on a computer project this evening and will be checking periodically for answers.

If it matters, I am Wiccan and so was my mother, but I'm open to words of hope from other faiths.

Thank you in advance to everyone who responds.

If Joseph Smith, who mormons believe was a prophet of god hadn't have invented the polygamy revelation, noone would have practiced polygamy in the first place, and there wouldn't have been a break off of mormonism that believed in their prophet's revelation enough to continue practicing it even though it was illegal.

The FLDS has EVERYTHING to do with mormonism. The main difference is that the followers of the mormon church didn't have the balls to follow the prophet's revelation, and instead stopped practicing polygamy in order for Utah to become a state.

And no, I'm not defending the fundamentalists. I think they're both a train wreck waiting to happen.

Whenever I go to a funeral of a person who had not accepted Jesus as their personal saviour I become so annoyed when I see some ignorant priest praying for their condemned soul. I always stand up and announce that their prayers will accompish nothing since the deceased is burning in a lake of fire and brimstone while being raped anally by demons throuout eternity for not accepting the shed blood of our precious lord Jesus Christ. Whenever I make this statement I tend to recieve a lot of opposition from the folks at these funeral processions and this mystifies me since I am just reiterating what I had read in the scriptures. I went to the funeral of a retarded guy and explained to everyone that a persons inability to comprehend Jesus Christ is no excuse for not accepting him since Jesus said that a person cannot enter his fathers kingdom without accepting his shed blood. Why cant people understand that I am speaking Gods truth rather than getting upsetting and forcing me to leave?

Why is the world so unfair? I have sturggled with this question for a long time. I have even discussed it with non believers. Why is it that there are people suffering in multiple ways, famine, disease, war, list goes on.......and places exist where we throw food everyday?

Sorry. This is a trick question. I know for a fact God is real, however, you can waste your time trying to prove me wrong if you want.

All you have to do is say that Brigham Young had 51 wives and show a picture of him with his wives and they call you a bigot.

Hey, if Brigham didn't do it we would not report it. That's fair.

Is it hate speech against George Washington if I said that he was a Planter and owned slaves? It's true.

So how does reporting the facts translate into hate speech?

If you don't sin then you don't get caught in the sin. It's a simple as that! I know that I never did anything even close to as bad as Young.

I was thinking about making the Straight edge commitment, which I know involves some things:

1. Abstaining from tobacco, alchool, and illegal drugs[perscription abuse is not allowed]

2. Abstaining from all sex except in a commited relationship

But is vegetarinaism also part of it, because I'm not so sure about joining in then. Although I do not wear or use fur or leather, because killing animals not for food, but for our own comfort, is stupid.(Down feathers and wool are okay by me though)

They are both a choice.

Is abstinence a choice out of fear of hell?

Celibacy is a choice because we are not in a relationship with someone that we want to make love with.

Does that makes sense?

Religion is defined this way (notice especially definition #4):

re·li·gion (r-ljn)
n.

4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

This is the definition of "Belief": belief - any cognitive content held as true...

Based on definition #4 of religion and the definition of belief, how is it that Atheism is not a religion or belief?

It appears that Denial is not only a river in Egypt....LOL!
