No. The values that my religion teaches (charity, human kindness, helping the sick, housing the homeless, and so forth) are often in sync with what I already believe. However, if something were to come down from the pulpit that I strongly disagree with, I would not necessarily feel an obligation to adopt that particular belief.

Congratulations, you just caused me a slight 'glitch' in the matrix, I was about to say that whilst I understand your point, but that for me the question is a bit 'judgemental', then I realised that that statement is equally 'judgemental' !
Hmmm ...
Ok, let me put it this way, however misguided some religions have got over the years they have served their purpose to a greater or lesser degree. For the mass of humanity they gave a 'moral meter' by which the excesses could be contained somewhat, although when you look at things like war, 200 million slaughtered in the last century alone, you have to wonder. :-(((
But, let's be charitable, ands give the benefit of the doubt, it probably could have been worse. But now we are all so much better informed, and with this great planetary connection, the Internet, shadowing that constant 'Connection', the 'One', maybe it is time to let go of the Mumbo Jumbo.
The downside is that to let go of religious and supposed 'moral' control from external sources means the ghastly truth that we will have to take personal responsibility for everything that we do, no more blaming 'God', or his 'evil' twin, the 'Devil.
A lot of us still don't think we are ready for that yet.
I think we are, with a little help from our friends. :-)))

I am sorry but I prefer to make my own values.
This attitude has cost me a lot of trouble in my life.
Everyone else in my environment seems convinced that I need to 'eat' with their tea-spoon.
