How do you know that everything Jesus said wasn't a lie? I mean the only people that "saw" him come back from the dead were his followers. And they could have just made it up so they would seem right and get jesus's point across to others. What proof do you have beside's your faith and belief in him. I mean real proof that others can see. The bible was written by his followers so that also could just be one big lie to get you to believe jesus is what he isn't. It's been done before. So why do you think jesus is telling the truth?

I read this in someone's answer to another question.

Here's my question: what baby comes out of the womb believing in Christ or a god? What newborn grasps the concepts of belief, religion, Christianity, Atheism, racism, etc?

If I'm not mistaken, Atheism is no more "natural" than Christianity. They are learned concepts that can only be fully grasped with an educated or matured mind. Or am I missing something?

I read a book called "Embraced by the Light" which is about a life after death experience. In her book she died, went to heaven and re-united with people she knew b4 she was even born. She said that she recoginezed them and were happy to see them again although she never seen them since she was a spirit waiting to come to earth. She says that all people were spirits b4 they came to earth and were with God when he created it. She says that we come to earth to grow spiritually and to have a relationship with God thru Jesus christ and with other people. This is something i want to believe b/c it would have a big impact on my spiritual views and walk but nowhere in the Bible says this or talks about it(i havnt seen anything). Has anybody else heard about this, if so pllz tell me what u kno/believe. And why would God erase our memory about this experience once on Earth?

Sometimes I feel like I have way too much spiritual energy inside. It comes with a feeling like I could burn up the world if I want, and a kind of clarity that makes me feel like I can reach out an touch anything I see. I feel like a phoenix. Obviously this isn't normal, but does anyone ever feel this way, that all the power of the world is inside you? What do you do about it? Or maybe other people don't feel this way...I don't know.

A couple of notices:
1. no, I am not contemplating suicide
2. 9/11 reference below, not for the easily offended.

I've a question for Christians (Jews and Muslims as well, lost likely) regarding suicide.

It is said life is a gift from God, and it is terribly gauche to reject his gift by committing suicide.

But consider: people don't kill themselves when they feel their life is a "gift".

Consider the people who jumped to their death during 9/11. Given the choice between burning to death, and jumping to their death, they chose to jump.

They chose suicide rather than live out what little of their lives remained being burned to death.

According to Christian beliefs, those who did not choose to burn, but instead chose to leap to their deaths, committed suicide and thus are not going to heaven.

Is there no point, no situation, no set of cicumstances where life is considered so unbearable that suicide is considered a valid option?

The Talmud, expanding on the Biblical account, tells us that Abraham discovered the One-God while he lived in the house of his father Terach.

Was everybody before him just too worthless to have a God named after him?

Poor Adam, he must have been royally pissed.

ok...I believe in a higher power. I know I am not christian because i don't believe Jesus was the "son of a higher power". I believe jesus may have existed but not as a higher power in human form. I don't worship anything or anyone. I don't pray and I do not attend a place of worship and do not understand the desire people have to do so. All I know is that I believe there is something greater then humanity that "created" us and I I don't really care about that higher power at all. I have been searching over the internet but cannot seem to find an answer to give to my friends when they ask what I believe without having to give them a long winded explanation (much like this one) that they don't really understand.
