Dear Bosoogi,
Thank you for the complement but i am not Jewish . It would be an honor to be related to Jesus and His blood family. However ,by grace through Faith (which works through love) in Jesus and his perfect work culminating in His death and resurrection, I am adopted into the Family of Abraham through the family of Jesus. Are you?
Are you an antinomian who believes that faith does not have to live to be saving or that mortal sin can cosily co-exist with Grace or that Grace does not demand that we live the Commandments and Beatitudes of Christ or that as long as we have some sort of nice feeling about our"fire insurance" that's all we need??

Dear David,
Thank you for your kind advice. Nobody is perfect in this life that I have gotten to know andI know as a Christian that I need to face the reality that I am a sinner and I need constantly to rely on Christ ,His grace and his mercy. Please consider that you need to do so too. I don't know you but if i did Iam willing to bet. that you would reveal that you are still a sinneron some level(a low one I hope).
Also Jesus in Matt 28:19 says to baptize in the Name of the father,Son and Holy Spirit and tongues are not an infallible sign of being open to the Holy Ghost. Let us pray for each other.

Dear James,
Talking about setting aside pride and arrogance, have you diligently read in context the Catechism of the Catholic Church to see what the Church really teaches? Let us pray for each other.

Yes! Not only are you a Christian, but you're the best kind of Christian. You're the 2000 year old kind. Not the kind that has over 30,000 different denominations, all that got started sometime in the last 500 years or so. (Some in 1517, some in 2007 and the rest somewhere in between.)

You can trace your CHRISTianity right back to CHRIST. You can't get any more Christian than that!

Are you a Catholic or are you a Christian?

Read 1 Corinthians 1: 10-13. The Bible does not condone hyphen named Christians (Catholic-Christian, Protestant-Christians, etc.)

Jesus has "all authority" and the apostles were to teach the things He had commanded them! (Matthew 28:18-20)

Part of that teaching is about baptism. The baptism you described is not the one commanded by Christ. It is not the one we have example of in the Bible.

The baptism of the Bible is for those who believe. (Mark 16:16, Acts 8:36-37)

It is for those who have repented. (Acts 2:38)

The baptism of the Bible requires "much water" (John 3:23). Those being baptized go down into and come up out of the water (Matthew 3:16-17, Acts 8:38-39). This baptism was a burial. (Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12). This baptism is immersion.

This baptism is never described in the Bible as being for infants.

Again, to be a Christian, follow those things Christ taught. This includes the things taught by the apostles, since they were trained and sent out by Christ.

If you follow the teaching (authority) of any man or church over the things taught by Christ and the apostles in the New Testament, then you are not giving Christ "all authority" in your spiritual life!

If we teach as doctrine the commandments of men, then our worship is "vain" or useless in God's eyes! (Matthew 15:9, Mark 7:7)

Dear James O,

It sounds like you are a Christian. Being a Christian is simply following Christ- and it sounds like you are doing your very best to follow Christ- and have put your faith in Jesus' work on the cross and not upon your own righteousness.

In terms of some of the other things that you practice: (Jesus in the Eucharist), Confession to a priest, praying the rosary, asking the Saints for help- i find all these practices to be unbiblical--- and un-necessary for salvation.

Jesus says to do the Lord's supper in remembrance of Him. Not that he is in the Eucharist.

The Bible tells us there is only one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus- (so it's not necessary to confess to a priest or to use rosary beads).

Even the Saints when worshipped told people to worship God. i think it's dangerous to appeal to the Saints, just go to Jesus!

Anyhow i can give you more detailed Scripture. i think instead of labelling people- you ask them what they believe about Jesus- i've had people tell me they are Christian or Catholic and as i talk to them more- some people believe some very odd and unbiblical things.

Keep studying God's word- and following Jesus!

Kindly,

Nickster

I am not a Catholic! I personally believe that there are "True Christians" in any "denomination" that puts their faith in Jesus Christ and "HIS" work which He alone accomplished! I don't believe His mother Mary has anything to do with answering prayers or with the growth of the church. She "is" most blessed of all women and Jesus's mortal mother, but that is all! You read the Bible what does it say! "Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God,"
So where do the "works" of men come in? "REWARDS" received for pleasing God! We are His children and as with a true Father those who please Him most by obeying His Word and truly sharing their love with others, we are rewarded accordingly! Jeremiah 17:10 " 10 I, the LORD, search the heart, [I] test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings."

As for me, I'm a countryfied "Bapticostal Cathuranicopal"
If you believe (and accept) you will be saved! So says God!

Acts 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Love ya, Brother, Wes

Amen! You are a Christian because you are doing exactly what Christ wants you to do. You love Him and have responded to His love by your devotion and obedience. Let those who claim to love judge us, our faith has stood the test of time. Only the true Church which Christ found on the Rock will triumph until the end. Do not let others stumble you and pray that one day we will all be one with other Christians as Christ is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

This is a hard one for me...
I would say that because you have accepted Jesus into your heart to be your Savior, and because you follow His commands and live according to His purpose for your life, yes you are a Christian.
However, the Lord is VERY clear in the 10 commandments about worshipping other idols as you would worship God. And to place a person who was NOT the Savior of the world (ie. Mary) as high as the Lord--which many Catholics do, and from the sounds of it, so do you--is a blatant sin. She lived her life in the exact same position as did anyone else, us included. We are not worthy of being worshipped for the "saintly" things we do as Christians, so why should she be? Just because the Lord chose her to be the one who birthed our Savior does not mean she's any more special than any one of us--very blessed, yes, but not MORE special or worthy of praise and adoration.
Anyway, I don't want to overkill that point. More than anything, as an active Catholic who professes Jesus as his Lord and Savior, I would like to hear your stance on what I just said. There are not many Catholics that I've met who would say the same things you have just said, so I'm interested in your position on this.

As a Protestant, here is what I believe:

According to Romans 10:9 (That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved), you, sir, are indeed a Christian.

While I find many of the doctrines of the Catholic church to be problematic (for instance, your baptism as an infant is not what saved you, but your professed Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ...nor do I see a biblical prescedent for Mary being called the Mother of the Church, though she was indeed the mother of Jesus), I don't believe that you throw the baby out with the bath water. I believe there are countless saved Catholics.

I am thrilled to be able to call you my brother in Christ.

first if you are a Christian you are not a sinner for to be a sinner you must be some one who is continually committing sin. and the Bible says should we continue in sin that grace may abound God forbid. this is not to say that once you are saved you will never sin again, but if you are in Christ and He in you then should not be committing the same sin over and over again to be a Christian mean to have Christ like characteristics. so. so to answer your question we must first ask what are t he attributes of Christ .
1. you must be baptized of your own free will as was Jesus
you must be baptized in the name of Jesus. for the Bible says there is no other name given under heaven were by we must be saved also read acts 2:38
2. your must have the spirit of God on the inside
how do you know you have him on the inside? you might ask well that's is simple. if you Read Acts 2:1-40 you will know that the clear sign of God entrance in your soul will be the evidence of speaking in tongues.
3.you must have love for others. for the bible says they will know you are Christian by your love for one another
4. you must obey all of God's Holy Word
5. you must sacrifice your will to God's Holy will
these are just the first step to becoming a Christian if you wish to know more feel free to contact me by e-mail twoedgesword777@yahoo.com
have a blessed day

Denomination does not matter to God.
A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

You fit the definition for a Catholic, and Catholicism is a branch of Christianity.

Though I think that being a Christian defines many different groups and interpretations, not only the strict literal interpretations.
