What should I spend my money on?

2007-06-28 21:53:05 · 10 answers · asked by Anonymous

I really want to know. Because in the end Christians want
Jesus to come down from heaven and pick them up.
His second coming could be any time. Right? Ask yourself
right now if you really believe in that. I know that you think
you believe in Jesus, but do you really really seriously believe
in Jesus? If i told you that Jesus might come tomorrow,
would you seriously feel excited just for the possibility of
it happening? Do you? I bet you feel no excitement or
anything whatsoever. Why? Because you don't believe he
will come. You might think to yourself that he will come
but probably not anytime soon. Right?
If you Christians try to be a bit open-minded before
unleashing your raid upon me it would be good.
You don't actually believe that Jesus will come. Because
you simply don't feel like it would happen. You just don't
feel it. You Chrisitians are just like a bunch of sheeps that
think you know what you are doing but actually you don't
even know yourself!!!

that God was waking up the lilies and I stood in line and was finally able to look at him (but he was part invisible). I told him that I loved him, and he breathed on me. Isn't that AWESOME?!!!

just curious if Hell was a new idea that came about with the writers of the NT? Hell to me seems that it was an idea that came out of the influence of Greek mythology & the idea of Hades. if Jews believe in Sheol, where did the idea of Hell come from in a religion that came out of Judaism?

Again, how is this next verse taken out of context? The anti Islam site has it listed as a separate verse, but it follows the one I previously quoted. It's right after it.

"And slay them wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out, for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. 2:191"

It's again talking about self defense. "Turn them out from where "they turned you out". If somebody takes your house, are you just going to sit there and let them, or are you going to fight them where you find them and take back your house?

Here is the verse that is right before it, talking about fighting in self-defense. What do you make of this whole situation?

"Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits, for Allah does not love transgressors. 2:190"

Think about this. After you die you suddenly wake up in a dark room and frantically look around you. Suddenly, a man in a Spiderman costume comes up to you and tells you this:

"There is no God, there is no heaven or hell, your one life on Earth was all you got. You have exactly 30 seconds from the time I stop talking to reflect on your life before you cease to exist whatsoever and never return. Begin.....

My thoughts are those who are Atheists would have no regrets, where as Theists, particullarly those who were very active in religion (prayed daily, went to church/mosque weekly, didn't do things cause they were sinfull ie drinking, sex.. would think "Oh, Sh*t!!! I wasted my life!! Why, Spiderman, why?!?!?"

Just my opinion

I'm Catholic, and would prefer answers for this question from fellow Roman Catholics, Jews and Orthodox Christians.

I'm a student, and on term papers and exams (and generally, any other paper I consider important), I write out the tetragrammaton on one of the pages (similar to "JMJ" by Catholics). I don't see it as a "good luck charm," but as assurance that I'm not doing the work "unaided." Professors have never made a fuss about it, either because they haven't seen it, or don't mind.

My question is, is this inappropriate, or worse, is it in violation of God's commandment not to take God's name in vain?

People who are atheists LOVE to misrepresent the facts. God lets us know for certain which religion is true. It is said in the Bible God will touch you and let you know which religion is true. The spirit of God is like a fire and it burns inside each and every one of us.

If only people would put away their pride and listen to the truth. Why don't they do that? But, you know what? I'm not here for that. I'm here to spread the word that God loves each and every one of us and that we should stop being so vain and accept the sacrifice of Jesus.

If we don't accept Jesus, what right have we to get into Heaven? What if I came up to you and said, "I've done NOTHING wrong but I want to break into your house."

You wouldn't like that, right?

Of course not. Same thing with Hell. Unless you are a Christian you cannot get in.

Agree?

why is the devil always the cause of bad things in the world? i can't tell you how many times i've heard, "its the devil." i honestly believe that ''god'' is the idea people of faith prescribe to favorable circumstance, and the ''devil'' is the idea prescribed to unfavorable circumstance. nothing more, nothing less. it's almost as if its in our nature to make excuses and not accept responsibility for our actions, good or bad. do people not realize how absurd this sounds?

adam and eve had no knowledge of evil, therefore they could not commit evil, they could only do good.

so doesn't this mean, that they didn't have true free will until they ate of the tree?

and since god didn't want them to eat from the tree, doesn't this mean that he didn't want them to have free will?

i mean, sure you can argue they could still choose between various good acts, but that's not really true free will. that's free will with limitations.

I have given example in another question before, about a young boy growing up on an island. He was never told about God, and his only contact was with his mother who also knew nothing about religion. I asked if this boy would ever become a believer in christianity without anyone putting it into his head to begin with.

Most said no, he wouldn't. I agree.

For that reason, should children be allowed in church? What I mean is, at the age where the church is most actively seeking them out (Day school, bible study...etc), around 4 - 6 years old, do these children have the ability to make their own choices about God and religion? Will they grow up being a believer because an adult told them what to believe? I was kicked out of bible study for asking a question which contradicted the bible. I got into trouble at home, and never questioned it again until I was older.

So, my idea is that only adults should be allowed in church, because children can't (to be continued)

If the books of the Bible are not in chronological order, then can we say that Genesis may not be the beginning of human life? Can it be said that Genesis is a re-creation of what was already on earth esp given scientific evidence that human life preceded these times?

The root word Genesis actually means the beginning. The natural adjective for genesis would be genetic but this adj is now associated with gene

So could God have been re-creating?

1) why would the roman army allow a condemned criminal to be buried when it was military tradition to leave the body until it rots?

2) why would they give a condemned criminal a tomb of all things? tombs were not for the common man and certainly not for the criminals.
