I want a real detailed explanation. I have nothing against Atheists or people who believe I just don't know what Atheists believe is how we were all created. I know that there was something called the big bang but does every Atheist believe that? And how did the big bang happen? I already know about evolution so basically I'm asking how did the big bang happen? Do all Atheists believe that the big bang happened? If not what other ways did everything come to be? And do Atheists think that "in God we trust" should be taking out of the pledge of allegiance? Again I have nothing against anyone including what they believe.

I was just wondering why God doesn't send any more prophets, or do any of the cool stuff he does in the bible anymore. I mean nothing has really happened in the past say 2000 years (beside millions of murders in his name) to prove he is still around. What's going on.

P.S. your pal Johnny getting off of meth and finding jesus doesn't count, i'm talking about splitting the red sea here people, or at least maybe feeding poor people.

I get told God created me... and that I was part of his master plan... if that's true... then obviously I was meant to be an atheist right?

Another question... How can it be that we were meant to believe in God? I was born ignorant of religion... and to tell you the truth I wish I still was... but alas religion is such an interesting subject... I would miss it...

*cheers" To everyone who is serious and kind in their answers... and even to those who aren't...

Did the early church practice this.. Did the Lord ask us to remember His incarnation in THIS way? Is not the Lords' table and the Lord's supper set aside each week to remember the Lord.. From His incarnation .. human living.. death .. resurrection .. ascension.. enthronement and glorification ...

WHy is it so hard for us as believers to leave the Lord OUT of this pagan holiday and admit that it has nothing to do with the Him..I know it was very difficult for me.. it was a real denying of myself to do this... since this mixture of leven (unhealthy teaching and practices ) must pain the Lord..to see that we are not willing to give this up to truly follow the Lord in a pure way...
Thoughts on CHristimas's origin please

and no.. i am not a JW

Does it not make more sense to believe they want to be happy, and that they are facing a future where they see no hope of being happy?

Don't we all want to live?

Do all of us have what it takes to live with endless misery?

Is it a loving god that demands we live when living only prolongs the agony and suffering?

I told Him I'd follow, He never showed up. Instead my life's going down. No job, no money, bills are do. Got hit by another vehicle today, guy had no insurance and ran from the scene. I'm a loser livee with my ma and pa. Everyone knows I'm a loser. So why won't he help me become a winner. I prayed today before the accident. But the accident still happend. God knows I've been depressed lately. If He loved me a little bit He wouldn't let unfortunate things like this keep happening at such a fragile time in my life.

A couple of questions back I asked about suicide in reference to the people who jumped from the buildings during 9/11.

Almost to a person, each answer stated that they were going to die anyway and they were simply choosing a different way to die: ergo they were not technically committing suicide.

Okay, what about the people who are terminally ill? They too know they are going to die, they are simply choosing a quicker and less painful method to die.

Indeed, it can be argued that we are -all- going to die eventually, and therefore there is no such thing as suicide because people are simply choosing another, quicker, less painful method to end their life than, say, old age.

I want to be clear I intend no disrespect for the victims of 9/11.

But are you sure your sympathy is not clouding your judgement with respect to suicide?

How do you draw a line between those trapped on 9/11 and those trapped with terminal cancer? Shouldn't both choose to live in hope for a miracle?

Ok so I'm planning a bible study for my youth group and I'm talking about how it doesn't matter if we are weak because he is strong and he doesn't need our strength he just needs us to be willing to be used for his purpose. What are some good bible verses to go with this?

Just any that talk about his power and strength and saying he can use us no matter who we are.

Why do Catholics think they are Christians, but Christians (Baptists, Prodistants, Petacostal, etc) don't think that the Catholics are Christians? I get into this fight with my Catholic friends who say they are also Christians, but I was raised Christian and strongly taught that Catholic is not a good, God based religion, as Catholic people drink, and have sex before marriage, and swear etc. and they worship the Virgin Mary, who is not Jesus and did nothing spectacular, and because they also celebrate the crucifix. And Jesus wasn't always dead he rose again, right? BUT Catholics still call themselves Christians.

I'm not either today, but it still confuses me... who's really right?

I had just answered a question about as to why someone would beleive in more than one god, and I gave my reason. I said nothing hateful to Christians or anyone - but my beliefs.
Why am I being voted down because of it?
It is my own personal belief, and unless someone says something that says what I beleive in is evil, I don't vote them as a bad answer.
I understand that you may not agree, but what gives you the right to say the core of my beleifs is a bad answer?

Its the principle of it, not the votes.

Come on. At times they claim the literal word of the Bible, then other times they yell "parables ...man, take it in context". Ok, let's do that.

The whole book is a parable and nothing is literal. Ergo it is false.

Explain to me why I'm wrong and show me where to draw the line.

and before you tell me God and Jesus are equal, these verses prove you not:

Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
John 8:54

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mark 12:29

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me
John 7:16

And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Matthew 19:17

so when will i hear more praising for God than Jesus? the God who created everything and sent Jesus to you, why not praise him more often?

Is it possible to be a secular theist? By this, I mean someone who believes in the existence of a God or gods, but thinks that organized religion is bunk (secular meaning "not having anything to do with the church). I tried to look this up and couldn't really find anything at all. If this is possible, but goes by a different name, what would that name be?
