I get told God created me... and that I was part of his master plan... if that's true... then obviously I was meant to be an atheist right?

Another question... How can it be that we were meant to believe in God? I was born ignorant of religion... and to tell you the truth I wish I still was... but alas religion is such an interesting subject... I would miss it...

*cheers" To everyone who is serious and kind in their answers... and even to those who aren't...

Some of you aren't getting the picture... are you telling me that when a pastor says to a family who has just lost a child... "It is part of some greater plan."... that the child chose to die?

If god didn't want people to be atheist, why did he create smart people? ; )

God sure enough created you with the help of your mother and father here on earth. However he left it up to you to choose whom you follow. For one I choose to follow God. If you choose not to believe that is your choice not Gods he will not make you come back to live with him. Yes you sure were born ignorant of religion and all other things spiritual. If you remembered being a spirit in heaven you would remember how awesome it was and not sin at all, there by you would not truly have a choice as you do now. No you were not in the beginning meant to be an atheist but a force for God and I pray that he will soon show you the truth and you will have a change of heart like so many before you have had. May God bless You.

God didn't make you an atheist. The thing with atheists is they're so quick to question God and Jesus Christ that they don't realise they contradict themselves at every turn! Your very question is contradictory to your belief! But don't feel too foolish...the rest of you atheists seem to do it a fair bit of the time! Why can't you simply learn to accept the truth of Jesus Christ rather than question Him!

Simple explanation:

Ever been around a loving mother and her newborn?
Ever watched the interaction between them?
A baby smiles, coos, and responds first to his mother & babes in arms KNOW their mamas longggggggg before the mental concepts of love, family, nature, and the world become relevant to a baby. WHY?

Because that baby knew their mother in the womb. They could hear her voice, hear her breathing, her heartbeat, feel her gentle touch as she caressed and soothed her growing belly.

It is the same way with God Almighty. In each conceived life, God places His spiritual DNA...His gentle touch, His soft still voice, and an inherent sense of knowing Him within the heart and soul of each new life, just as uniquely and lovingly unique as our individual strands of human DNA.

Fear, sorrow, pain, happiness,...etc. are "learned" responses gained through personal trial and error or by watching and learning from the trials and errors of others.

Religion, political preference, social preference, clothing preference, food preference God, Jesus, Satan etc. etc., are CHOICES you personally make as you grow older and become more involved in the community and world you live in.

You were NOT born an Atheist...You CHOSE Atheism.
Therein lies the difference.

God is a belief that HE sent his only begotten son and that whomsoever believe in HIM have everlasting life. An Atheist doesn't believe in GOD or has a belief that there's a GOD. So your question that GOD made you an atheist is lacking understanding to what wisdom and knowledge is the WORD.

I concur, you make an excellent point. Even if their god is real and really did create us, it did so in a way that allowed us to be who we are and believe as we believe. If it wanted things any other way, it would provide the proof that we require in order to believe. Anything less is the equivalent of saying "it's okay, you really don't have to because I really don't want you to."

God did not make you an Atheist, you chose to be an Atheist.

He also made Adam and Eve, yet He told them NOT to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, but they did anyway.

God Bless You

Here's one better...

God TOLD me to be an atheist. He appeared to me last night, assured me he was NOT Satan (and since god said it, it must be true), explained that everything in the bible was only a test to separate the thinkers from the sheep, and said I MUST be an atheist, and lead humans out of stupidity.

Go ahead Christians, prove me wrong.
