Because he felt like it. He's a deity! He can cure on a whim if he likes.

what and who he cured are dubious as we weren't there .
but if the hearsay is true and hasn't been altered and exploited over the years I'd be surprised . the lepers were suffering a mild form of leprosy called Hansen's disease which is effectively treated with hash oil which by the way was an ingredient of the ointment used in those times to anoint kings . He was called the anointed one so maybe the medicine practiced in those times was not only political for the poor but more efficacious then some some might realize.
Some say cancer can be cured today if caught soon enough just through a raw vegetable diet and hydration if so then it was treatable then as well.

Are you serious!?!?! Jesus isn't curing cancer because of original sin. Maybe the cure of cancer is on earth, we just haven't found it yet. He cured a few blind people and a few lepers because of their faith. They had 100% ture faith and Jesus knew that. Not many people today can admit that they have true faith. Plus, all believers in Christ know that we should offer up our sufferings to Him. When we suffer, whether physically or emotionally or mentally, we aren't to pray for a cure. We offer it to Him.
Obviously you aren't a Christian. If you are truly interested pickup a Cathecism of the Catholic Church or go to the website of www.newadvent.com and www.catholicanswwers.com. These can answer many of your questions.
Peace!

If you remember there were many people from Nazareth that didn't believe in Him and therefore they were not cured of their afflictions.
There are many people today that are cured of Cancer among other afflictions and ailments that Jesus does cure. Think of the people that were given a diagnoses that they have Cancer and told they only have a few months to live, yet they are still alive years later . . . who do you think did that for them?
God Bless You

Part of the reason Jesus healed while he was on this Earth was to show the world that He had power to not only heal the sick, but to forgive sins. Secular and biblical history have long established that Jesus does indeed have power, was raised from the dead, and is the only source of forgiveness of our sins.
Jesus is no longer (physically) present with us, and He wants us to rely on, and trust Him even when we do not get our wishes (healing included). If Jesus healed everyone upon request, then everyone would want to be a "Christian". Case in point: during Jesus' ministry, when he performed miracles, fed the hungry, healed the sick, and raised the dead thousands of people "loved" and followed Him. But when things got tough, ultimately when He was crucified, there were only a handful of people who courageously followed him to his death.
The world we live in is a testing ground; and many times hardships, such as sickness and death put our love and trust in Jesus to the test. Hardships have two effects on people: they either draw us closer to Jesus, or they drive us away from Him. That is the ultimate test here on Earth that Jesus want wants to know about us: what will your heart do toward God in times of trouble: harden or melt?
Jesus does not want to be a sugar daddy or Santa Clause to a bunch of spoiled Christians. We must remember that, until He comes back, this Earth is dangerous and difficult; and I believe it is that way so his followers never lose our hunger for him and become satisfied with what is offered here on Earth.
Jesus NEVER promised that life would be easy, or that He would give us everything we want (if it's outside the will of God); but he did promise us that he would never leave nor forsake his own.
By the way, sometimes Jesus does heal, and sometimes He does not. No one will know why he heals some, but not others until we see him in Heaven. Part of being an obedient follower of Christ is simply knowing that He is in charge and we are not, and learning to accept God's will for what it is, whether we understand its meaning or not.

the fact that adam and eve sinned has absolutely no effect on who god chooses to heal, or what diseases or illnesses he cures, either. some people He feels are ready to leave this earth, so these are the ones he doesn't cure. some people just don't ask, so their chances of being cured are less. many people with cancer make miraculous recoveries. i personally know at least 8 who have, including my own mother.

Jesus didn't perform a world wide cure of those diseases. He cured some people as a sign to the Jews that He was the promised Messiah who was fulfilling the prophecies made centuries before about Him.
Matthew 8:14 And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever. 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "He took our illnesses and bore our diseases."
Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
The reason the words are not exactly the same in the New Testament is because the author was quoting from the Septuagint, that is the Greek translation of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Cancer back in the day...or now?
I don't know that he didn't cure cancers back in the day.
I can't address why he doesn't do it now...that's Jesus' business, not mine.
