If the books of the Bible are not in chronological order, then can we say that Genesis may not be the beginning of human life? Can it be said that Genesis is a re-creation of what was already on earth esp given scientific evidence that human life preceded these times?

The root word Genesis actually means the beginning. The natural adjective for genesis would be genetic but this adj is now associated with gene

So could God have been re-creating?

Good observation and question. The key lies in the second verse "the earth was without form and void" is a very poor and misleading translation. People who have studied such things say that a better interpretation is "the earth BECAME without form and void". This indicates a cataclysmic event that made the earth drastically different from what it was. Interesting, however if you want the accurate account of creation you won't find it in Genesis. Jesus gave it to us in The Apocryphon of John. Be smart, believe Jesus, not Moses.

Genesis is the story of creation of the physical universe. The book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible written about 1650 years BC.

It's just a creation myth. The main part of that story, the part where adam & eve disobey god and eat from the tree of knowledge is what you should focus on. Basically the moral is that you shouldn't disobey god or else. I don't think many of the stories in the bible were ever meant to be taken literally.

Genesis is the Jewish creation myth. It was ripped off from other religions in the area. Most likely from the Babylonian empire.
The story of Job actually seems to be an older story than Genesis. (1650BC is actually an awfully early date to ascribe to it though, it is more likely from the 7th centuryBC)

This is how it reads in all bibles, in THE beginning. Correct translation reads, in A beginning. Genesis is a beginning, one of many beginnings.
