just like any other religious group that is just as unwilling to accept the fact that their religous leaders of the past commited many sins...it does not matter what happened in the past as long as the people now allow everyone else to pratice whatever religion or non religion they wish..the only thing about belonging to any group or religon is that each individual needs to search out the truth in the bible..compare this to what is taught by their religous leaders and then decide if they wish to follow that religion or leave it....

Hold it! You left out the Muslims! Might as well throw them into your "bloodthirsty batch". As for early Christians, that was more about power and wealth. You don't know crap about history do you or the Bible for that matter!? What man does to Christianity has nothing to do with what Christ taught! He said, "Turn the other cheek". He advocated peace and brotherhood. Just because some Medevil idiots decided that they knew what Jesus wanted that doesn't mean that is really what Jesus wanted! Get real! Hitler wanted a pure Arian race even though he had no clue what that really was. End result, millions killed. Same with Stalin. Same with Mao in China. Ever hear of Pol Pot? Those are man-made. So are the Crusades. Bible says, "You shall not kill." It also says, "If you live by the sward, you'll die by the sward". You have some wires crossed. Any evil can be done in the name of any religion (Islam...take your shot...go for it), but true Christian faith has nothing to do with what you rail against. Blame men, not God. I consider myself a Christian, and believe me, if I were demonic, I'd probably be locked up in a jail cell now. If you want to find evil in this contempory day and age, compair how many Christian militants are blowing up innocent civilians to those Muslims I mentioned earlier and re-direct your questions. Hey, the Muslims did the same thing during the same time in history you harangue about! Convert or die. But you know what Jesus taught? "If you preach my word in a town, and they don't want to believe, you leave that town and shake the dust off your feet as you go." Ergo: Christ NEVER taught men to force their belief on others. You are 100% WRONG! So are the men who have no clue what Christ wanted and taught. Judge not, and you won't be judged. Another handy verse from the Bible. Look it up if you have one.

Would you follow yourself that has sinned?
Would you trust yourself that has mistaken?
Is this what you are trying to imply?
Because they have wronged that means they are evil?
I have known alot of people. They have nice life ahead. They even have richness ahead of them but gave it all up and became monks and religious missionaries. I don't know why would they choose that kind of life. They are intelligent and could have a very great career. Perhaps because they have found something.
If only you have done your research first. And not just a one sided research, Then you could have not posted your bias question. Have you research about the charities this religion you are referring to. Let say the catholic. The catholic, summing all it's charities, is the largest of all. None can surpass the services the catholic had offered. From the start until now the catholic has given its true service.
How about doing your share than making skepticism?
And do more unbiased research on the things before you criticize.

Humans have a deep seated need to either know or explain things. "I don't know" wont cut it with anyone at any time. Spirituality is great and also a part of every human. It takes many forms, love, compassion, sympathy.
Unfortunately, highly organized religions are more after power than brotherly love. The men that rise to the top are as corrupt as any politician. This goes for most if not all major religions past and present. To properly "herd us sheep" one needs two hands. Goverment and religion. One washes the other. One holds a big stick while the other tell the big lie.
For a while in human history there was a glimmer of hope in the name of the USA with the seperation of church and state but it seems like it didn't last.

Every single religion has violence in it's past. Not just the Catholics. Besides, times have changed, and Catholics are just trying to to do what they think is right. And in the past, that is what people have always done. What they think is the correct way to act, and deal with people. Morals have changed dramtaically since the Middle Ages when the Catholic Church was at it's absolute peak in power. All religions, and all people do what they believe to be right, due to how they have been brought up, how they have been trained, and what their religion tells them to do.
No matter what religion, people do what they think is right for their God. And due to the ever-changing morals of society, what happened in history in all religions can be seen as terrible.
Not that I am saying that what they did was right. It's just that due to circumstance, belief (and undoubtedly, corruption - because the ability to be corrupt is available to all people of all religions, for we are all made equal) that these things occured. And if one believes in forgivness and equality in all, we must forgive past sins and focus on the future.

Just as what Muslims are doing today, slaughtering those who don't believe in their faith, the Christians did ions ago to them for the same reasons. It's not something we're proud of, unlike the Muslims of today. When the Christians did the slaughtering, they were mournful. The Muslims are not. The Muslims rejoice, just look at the news.
BTW, even though I agree with you that catholics are evil, they weren't the only christian group who participated in the slaughter of unbelievers. As I stated though, *they* mourned the death of the unbelievers, unlike the Muslims of today, who rejoice.

MANY religions have been responsible for deaths. Hindu extremists have killed thousands of Muslims in India. Buddhists have killed Hindus in Sri Lanka. Muslims of various types have killed each other in Iran. Protestants and Catholics killed each other after the reformation. I really don't see what point you're trying to make.

You are correct in your observation, Art, and those atrocities are one reason I was an atheist for so many years.
But, as you know, Jesus, who Christians and Muslims claim to trust, told us to love our enemies, and we kill them, something is wrong.
As you study the prophecies, you'll see that God foretold this in advance. The Abomination of Desolation would kill many, wear out the saints of the most High, and the Muslims would be allowed to chastise them.
Yet, Art, all those countries around the Mediterranean Sea were once Christian and fell to Islam who have mandates in the Koran to forcibly convert others to their faith.
I recommend two sites:

you mean the religion. that's not faith. religion is a political means for controlling people almost blindly by means of their faith and for the aggrandisement and promotion of the interests of certain people through the so called interests of a god. all monotheistic religions love killing the infidels and anyone else they cannot conrol, such as gays, adulterers etc. because they are based on the negation of everything that is not just like them.

Catholicism is borderline Christianity. Same as Mormonism and Jehova Witneses. All three teach things that aren't Biblical yet still call themselves followers of Jesus, but that doesn't mean every Christian follows their individual beliefs. So your question should be about Islam who today kill people who do not follow their brand of religion.
