The roman soldiers were freaked by the darkness that descended on the area and ran away, then his followers took Jesus down, placed him in a rich mans tomb, and rolled a hugh rock in front of the tomb so he couldn't be re-hung by the returned soldiers.

Mat 27:64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
Mat 27:65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make [it] as sure as ye can.
Mat 27:66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

1. They did not want a riot on their hands so they took him down early. It was strictly a preventive measure. The sabbath was drawing on, although not the weekly sabbath.
2. THEY didn't. A private individual who owned the tomb did.

It was Simon of Arimathea[?] --a wealthy Jew who personally knew Pontius Pilate-- who went to Pilate and requested to have the body of Jesus [Yeshua] brought down from the cross since Passover was almost upon them, and for the body to be entombed in his [Simon's] privately owned burial place.
Simon was a disciple and an uncle of Jesus.

read up on it....... Jesus' body was claimed and taken away and put into a tomb by private citizen.... and the main reason it all happened the way it did was because God said it ... Jesus' body would not rot....and Jesus was NOT common..... God bless

Good points. And I also don't get why some people are quoting the bible. Those chapters were written after jesus death, so for all we know they could have easily made up those parts to cover up all of the lies they wrote.
