ok...I believe in a higher power. I know I am not christian because i don't believe Jesus was the "son of a higher power". I believe jesus may have existed but not as a higher power in human form. I don't worship anything or anyone. I don't pray and I do not attend a place of worship and do not understand the desire people have to do so. All I know is that I believe there is something greater then humanity that "created" us and I I don't really care about that higher power at all. I have been searching over the internet but cannot seem to find an answer to give to my friends when they ask what I believe without having to give them a long winded explanation (much like this one) that they don't really understand.

I think it kind of depends. Why don't you feel a desire to connect to that "higher power?" Is it just that you've never really thought about it? Or is it because you hold Him responsible for something bad that happened to you? Or is it that you don't want to be burdened with that Power's expectations of you?

Do you think that the Higher Power that created you is disinterested in you? Or do you believe He created you for a purpose? If so, do you desire to know what it is?

What do you believe about death and the afterlife?

And finally, upon what do you base your beliefs?

Depending on your answers, you could qualify for anything from a deist, to an agnostic, to a satanist. Or maybe you're still searching for what you really believe. If that's the case, I pray you find answers.

Ignore the people claiming you're agnostic, first off. They're wrong.

You believe there is a higher power. Therefore, you're not agnostic. Agnosticism means you do not believe it can be known one way or another.

You seem to indicate that there IS something, but that it never showed up and said, "Hi, I'm a deity." Since you do not believe in a revealed deity, you're not classed as having theistic beliefs.

Since you do believe in a higher power though, you are not an atheist.

This means you are a deist, holding that there is a higher power but that it has not revealed itself or interfered with the universe beyond creating it.

You are a deist.

The world has many labels. Such as:

A THEIST - the belief in one God as the creator and ruler of the universe, without rejection of revelation.

A DEIST - the belief in a God who created the universe and then abandoned it, assuming no control over life, exerting no influence on natural phenomena, and giving no supernatural revelation.

An AGNOSTIC - the belief that it is impossible to know whether there is a God & one who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.

An ATHEIST- a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of God or of any supreme being or beings above themselves.

I believe society would label you an Agnostic.

God Almighty simply calls you lost...a non-believer.

Theist, most likely. Deist, if you think the higher power falls within Judeo-christian traditions, but generally leaves us alone to solve our own problems. Pantheist, if you think the higher power is in everything it created. Agnostic if you're sort of "yeah, maybe, maybe not" about it all.

In theological circles you would be called an existentialists. That word is based on the word existence and teaches that even if there is a God He is not relevant. The only important thing is your current existence and how you live. I am not an existentialists, but that is a very simplistic description of one. Existentialism's highlight was the "God is dead"philosophy in the 1960's.

Why need a label... lots of people like you and they are simply Spiritual...something even as an atheist I consider higher then the general label of a religion... I have much more respect for those that are simply Spiritual and find their own way.

You sound like an agnostic. You believe God may exist, but are unsure if there is anything about Him that can truly be known.

Why you need to put a label on you?
Do you really needs to believe in a God?

I believe in humanity.
Believe in what you want and be a good person. That's all.
