Multiple Christians have claimed some pretty whacky stuff - the pope of the middle ages sold indulgences he claimed would guarentee one being saved. Lately, I've seen scholars claim Jesus was married and other refute this.
Yet, this seems especially to be a strange claim. First, even if he was not a diety, different cancer classifications had already been given by Hippocrates several centuries before, making it strange if didn't hear of it.
Unfortunatly, the only Gospel writer who had medical knowledge (Luke), was not present during these miracles, or maybe we would have a more detailed case report of the different illnesses he encounered.

"I have received multiple Christian claims that state Jesus did not eliminate cancer because he didn't know about it."
Really? Must be some trolls posing as Christians or just some ignoramuses. Jesus didn't eliminate cancer just like He didn't eliminate the common cold, because we are still living in a fallen creation and it won't be till He comes again and the creation is started over again that death and diseases will be no more.
Revelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." Also he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." 6 And he said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

Jesus did not eliminate any diseases. That is not what he came to do. The purpose of healing was to fulfill prophecy and to demonstrate his power in a way that also helped people. He could have demonstrated his power by blowing up buildings, but that is not consistent with the character of Christ.
You make a valid point though, confused christians who believe that Jesus would have cured cancer had he been aware of it are stuck. They just said that God is not sovereign. This is not really an issue, though. God is sovereign therefore Jesus was perfectly aware of cancer and probably healed some people who had it. He did not eliminate it becuase He did not come to earth to eliminate the consequences of the fall of man. He came to give eternal life through his death on the cross.

I think "multiple Christian claims" is a bit of an exageration.
Here is your question:

Maybe you ought to look again. Most of your answers were from atheists.
Also, you will notice that you did not ask why Jesus did not eliminate cancer. You asked why He did not cure it. The Christians who did answer you either told you that Jesus' contemporaries didn't know about cancer, not that Jesus didn't know about it. As I recall, most of them also said that He did heal cancer.
I guess you didn't understand, or weren't paying attention.
Seriously, didn't you tell us once that you knew more about the Bible than most Christians?

Hello,
Not true in my opinion. The ancient Greeks observed this sort of disease and called it "cancer", the crab since it grew and spread out like the legs and claws of cancer the crab. The knowledge of cancer was known at that time. Not all of Jesus' works and miracles were recorded though it is mentioned he did others besides water into wine , loaves and fishes and curing lepers.

Well, let's see...I'm thinking that if you can raise someone from the dead then cancer should not be much of a problem. Sounds like you're talking to someone who doesn't have a good understanding of what they are talking about.
edit: He came the first time to pay the price for the redemption of mankind. His second coming will do away with all sin and the results of it.

Nobody probably did as a specific disease in those days. And, since the environment lacked cancer causing agents such as cigarettes, pollution, chemical food additives and high-fat diets, the cancer rate was probably tiny in those days. When it did come, people probably just thought of it as a "wasting sickness" and knew it would eventually kill the sufferer.
That said, it doesn't matter to me either way, since Jesus isn't one of my deities.

You must be listening to people who are rather uninformed about Jesus. Did Jesus cure a disease for everyone forever. Probably not. He cured a leper, but that disease still exists.
You must remember that the belief is not that Jesus was all-powerful, but that he was a man. Of course there's more to it, but I'm sure that if he could have just cured all diseases forever he probably would have.

Thats because Jesus was not God. He says he is not God in Mark 10:18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone.) and all through the gospels he prays to his father. If Jesus was God then who was he praying too? That doesn't make any since if he was God he would be praying to himself. God sent him to be a messenger and to save people and the miracles he did was through God that gave him the powers.

HE did. However, what did you expect HIM to say about it? "According to a study in the AMA, cancer ..."
Was it wrong for JESUS to NOT mention cancer? It was not in anyone's vocabulary! Even the doctors of that time did not know what it was! Who would HE communicate with about this disease?
GOD bless
