What are you teaaching or what will you teach your children? Do you think it is really okay for each person to live by his/her own interpretations of right and wrong? Why?

MY FATHER

When I was:
4 years old: My Daddy can do anything.
5 years old: My Daddy knows a whole lot.
6 years old: My Dad is smarter than your Dad.
8 years old: My Dad doesn't know exactly everything.
10 years old: In the olden days when my Dad grew up, things sure were different.
12 years old: Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember his childhood.
14 years old: Don't pay any attention to my Dad. He is so old-fashioned.
21 years old: Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.
25 years old: Dad knows a little bit about it, but then he should because he has been around so long.
30 years old: Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of experience.
35 years old: I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
40 years old: I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise and had a world of experience.
50 years old: I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too.....

regardless of the fact that we still "cling onto old habits and beliefs"... the idea behind religion is to make your life better by makin you an intrinsically good person who contributes back to society.

Last i checked religion only improved my life and those around me and i'm not the preaching type... i just try to be a good person and that has it's payoffs but i'm not a pushover either. I'm just sayin for me, personally, religion has made me into the morally and ethically driven man that i am, which has it's benefits.

I also dont' believe the world would be a better place without religion either, we contribute alot of good to society and not nessessarily the religious affiliations but the independant Christians as well in their own personal lives... so how can something that is soul purpose to be good be frownedupon and regarded as bad?

is it because of guilt that they go to church.
I think if they just lived their life with integrity they would not need to go to church.

I would like to begin by saying I am not bashing anybody and would like serious answers to this question.

I read comments posted on Yahoo answers quite a bit, and it seems that Christians have a serious problem with evolution. I would like to know why this is. Is it that there is a misunderstanding of science? Why is there no comments about gravitational theory or cell theory or the theory of relativity or germ theory? If it is the scientific method you do not understand, why is the theory of evolution the only one you talk about?

hi to everyone who has faith in his heart and people of faith, i want to ask my christian brother an honest question.

if someone worship only one God (which you called father), and accept all prophets of God included Jesus son of Mary will go to Hell? and the one who worship three heads of God (trinity- mostly they worship Jesus more than the other two heads) will go to heaven?

so if someone followed the path of all the prophet of Gods by worshiping one God will go to Hell, and those who follow the path of John will go to heaven?

1st commandment: you shall not take other gods before Me! (God alone)

it is believed that there would be:

no good without evil.
no light without darkness.
no...well you get the point.

would it be safe to say that there would be no atheism without religion?

I am always amazed at the sheer ignorance, denial, and false assertions the christian fundies or creationists spew forth in this forum. Truly, some of the god fearing, science hating and brainwshed remarks are almost frightening in their infantile concepts of reality..

So I am curious, does anyone have an "informed" guesstimate of what percentage of the USA is in this collective bubble of religious denial and ignorance..?

I'm aware of the christian's: "more people are coming over to god" and "more scientists believe in god" lies and arguments, but does anyone have an objective estimate of the percentage of the population who are like this?

I think it is a big worry, and the children they brainwash should be of great concern as well..

I can understand [although disagree] why the state would enjoy an easily controlled, uninformed political power base, but what drives this denial and ignorance in the individual..?

I pity America for this infestation of lies and ignorance.
