The last Prophet is a gentile prophet that was mentioned on Deuteronomy 18:18-19.
Hints:
- He was the descendant of Abraham and Ishmael.
- Just like Moses, he also brought "The Law"
- He was sent to all mankind and not just to a community or a nation.
- And through him, all nations on earth will be blessed

Given that the only way to verify that someone is a prophet is to ask a god, and the only person that a god speaks to is a prophet, the only source for verification has to be the prophet himself - thus a circular argument.
The final prophet was David Koresh, and in true human fashion, he was ruthlessly persecuted and finally killed by the FBI. No fancy crucifixion though.

There isn't a single last true Prophet, there will be a pair who will reveal who the Anti-Christ is and anger the world so much that they will be killed but to rise again three days later. According to the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible.

The last Prophet of God was Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he is described as completing prophethood, the seal of prophethood. He is the last and final Prophet for mankind.
Please see the video below it contains western and eastern scholars opinions about Islam and him.

What, exactly, makes you think there has been a "last prophet" of God?
God has not run out of things to say, nor of men (and women) brave enough to speak out the truth in His Name.

the promised comforter = prophet Muhammad
john 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
-who is the another comforter?
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
