MY FATHER

When I was:
4 years old: My Daddy can do anything.
5 years old: My Daddy knows a whole lot.
6 years old: My Dad is smarter than your Dad.
8 years old: My Dad doesn't know exactly everything.
10 years old: In the olden days when my Dad grew up, things sure were different.
12 years old: Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that. He is too old to remember his childhood.
14 years old: Don't pay any attention to my Dad. He is so old-fashioned.
21 years old: Him? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date.
25 years old: Dad knows a little bit about it, but then he should because he has been around so long.
30 years old: Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks. After all, he's had a lot of experience.
35 years old: I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
40 years old: I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise and had a world of experience.
50 years old: I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him. Too.....

Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was. I could have learned a lot from him.

How true is this for you? Father's Day is Sunday! Don't forget the old man! :)

true except
8 years old: My Dad knows more than I do but not exactly everything.
10 years old: In the olden days when my Dad grew up, things were easier.
12 years old: Why does dad always have to be right.
14 years old: Yeah, yeah Dad. Let me see for myself. It's a different world now.

Awwwwww it was cute. I still have my dad, he's far in another country and 2 years, 10 months, 14 days and about 17 hours has passed since the last time I saw him. But we talk on the phone :)

If this poem is referring to my own Dad, not God, then yes this may be true for allot of people, Ive always thought highly of my Dad and always will, I hope my own two boys take after I'm, I'm only 22 and I don't think he is out of date at all, I have always and will always have all of the time in the world for my parents, I love and respect them very much.

I don't know if I could apply that . My dad died when I was 16.

But I can get the feeling of it, if I think of my Mom. But she also just passed away.

Either way, I lost both parents long before I reach 40.

But it's a nice sentiment.

They've been riding a huge economic bubble, not just in housing but even worse in their currency because they've been artificially inflating it against the dollar. This bubble will probably burst, but I hope not. It's going to hurt the rest of the world if China tanks.

My alcoholic dad

4 years old: My Daddy is the world to me.
5 years old: My Daddy won't let me do things.
6 years old: My Dad doesn't like me anymore.
8 years old: My Dad is always upset and yelling at me.
10 years old: I really miss my old Dad
12 years old: It hurts when he punches me.
14 years old: He's a sick bastard and I hate him.
21 years old: Thank god he ignores me now.
25 years old: Why do you think I never visit the drunk as shole.
30 years old: When the hell is he gonna grow up?
35 years old: His sickness ruined my childhood.
40 years old: Yeah, I forgive him, but I'm not going to watch him kill himself.
50 years old: Too bad he threw his life away into a bottle and missed out on the children who so deperately wanted to love him

Nope. My father is a worthless piece of ****. He ran out on my mother and my sisters and I. The man I call my dad wasn't around until about 5 years ago.

What a wonderful tribute to your father. I agree 100%. I lost my father a few years ago and looking back I now realize he was the only true hero in my life.

That is so sweet. And yes it's true for me...except that I'm fortunate enough to still have Dad around to ask what he thinks.
