I would like to begin by saying I am not bashing anybody and would like serious answers to this question.

I read comments posted on Yahoo answers quite a bit, and it seems that Christians have a serious problem with evolution. I would like to know why this is. Is it that there is a misunderstanding of science? Why is there no comments about gravitational theory or cell theory or the theory of relativity or germ theory? If it is the scientific method you do not understand, why is the theory of evolution the only one you talk about?

Hi everyone! :)

I read some answers, and I think I got my answer through what some of you wrote. I understand the strength of your faith, I only hope you will learn the signifigance of a scientific theory. It seems none of you are uptight about any of the other theories, so maybe you can apply your sense of acceptance to the other theories to the the theory of evolution. All use the same method of determination.

I've never met a creationist who could correctly define evolution. I'm assuming that's because evolution's definition 'a change in allele frequencies over time' is pretty much undeniable. They have problems with specifics of it, but again, don't really understand it. That's the problem. They think they do, because they heard it from their parents or their priest or their fundamentalist teacher who didn't believe/understand it themselves, but they really don't get it.

Please get this straight.

Most Christians have absolutely NO problem w/ science or w/ the scientific method.

The problem is that when it comes to the "theory" of evolution, the scientific method is not used by scientists.
They cannot duplicate or observe evolution, hence the term theory.

If one wishes to believe in an unproven theory, that's fine.
But call it what it is : belief or faith. It is no different than belief or faith in God. We can't prove God scientifically.
We have historical evidence and biblical evidence and archaeological evidence but we still can't prove that God exists scientifically.

Neither can you prove evolution. It is therefore a religious type of belief and discussions and comparison of it against creation belong in the philosophy section.

The most serious problem is that the evolution camp has pushed creation (even though most people believe it) out of the schools and have installed the religion of evolution into our schools. Then they force our kids to accept it to get their grades and ridicule them for questioning it.

You have won. We are pissed.

No problem with theories or science.

The problem is that people have been duped into the idea that the theory of evolution is fact, when in fact it remains an unproven theory. You can't say something is fact when there is no string of linking evidence which makes it fact.

If you were accused of murder, there must be certain criteria in order to convict you. Motive, witnesses and evidence. The biggest list is evidence. The evidence must show beyond doubt that it was you - each piece must link not only to you, but be linked to each other. Evolution has too many gaps and I guarantee there will never be revealed a missing link.

The problem is not the theory - it's that the theory is marketed as fact.

Can religion coincide with science. Yes when the relgion is a practical one. When a religion becomes practical. When people stop preaching and strat walking on the great priciples of religion.

Various theories, inventions and discoveries jus reminds us as a human how limited we are. Many theories has its shortcommings, if we go beyond then we will discover that each and every theory stands on a assumption or chance. Science does not stand on assumption or chance, it stands on solid proofs.

A religion stands on faith, belief and experience. So to question religion then obivious things is experience and realization can only get us to truth.
So when we question a science then obivious thing is proof is beyond doubts, assumptions and chance.

The theory of evolution is not accepted since it cannot be fully defined...come back when you have all the answers and can show us a missing link.
Many Christians are scientists and have developed their theories. It is not a misunderstanding on the part of Christians...only the desire to force one theory on society by suggesting that anyone who doesn't embrace it is ignorant.

Well first off because most, yourself NOT included, of those here who are supporting evolution forget that it is the THEORY of evolution and state everything as fact. Fact which has been scientifically proven to be based on lies, cover-ups, and pure scientific UNTRUTHS...but continue to bury their head in the sand and say that it is proven, it is fact, and it is what happened.

Personally, my problem with evolution, common ancestry, or whatever, is that it is just not true and I have tried to point out just one scientific law that proves it is not true and I'm the one called ignorant, stupid, and brainwashed.

Maybe someday someone will have an intelligent answer for the scientific Law of Biogenesis that will explain to me how that fits with what they believe.

Science is the study of creation. Biblical accounts of creation have higher authenticity for some Christians. These self called fundamentalist Christians are quite new scene. The theological interpretation of the perfect Bible is new and comes from the Protestant sects. It is being copied by Muslim's and Jew's.

The perfect Bible is not supported by logic because humans are imperfect. This is a bully form of Christianity that is growing in appeal.

I am a Christian & I have no beef with evolution. Not all Christian denominations believe that Adam & Eve story. When Christians from other denominations talk about how they believe in Adam & Eve I say to them so what do you think about Adam's first wife Lilith? And when they name the Arch Angels Michael, Uriel, Raphel, Gabriel (they always leave out Lucifer I wonder why? LOL) and I say oh, oh, don't forget about Metatron! That messes them up!

yes they do. I just posted a question about why it took god 6 days to create the earth when he is supposed to come during the rapture and take his followers in the twinkling of an eye. they have no clue that the days of the week are an astronomical designation which the church has adopted. it also varies from culture to culture what days the religious will use as their sabbath. the answers I'm getting don't address the question in anyway.

I'm tired now, going to bed. goodnight.
