I was baptized some time ago. However, I still feel like I'm not going to "make the cut". I believe in God, there is no doubt. However, I still screw up a lot. Gossiping is a big downfall of mine, and not tithing (I do give, but it's not 10%). I give when I see someone who really needs it (people I know are ill or who are struggling to make ends meet, and I volunteer my time in the community for others' benefits). I don't do this out of a horrific fear. I think it's right and I love it because it helps people. However, I still fear that I will not be saved. Why?

Why don't more Christians posting here apply the Parable about the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) to there questions and answers? A lot of Christians, not all, posting here attack people of other beliefs, in particular Atheists and Muslims. How can one teach their Faith when they represent it with hate?
Jesus was merciful, why not go and do likewise?

Any Christians here care comment on this?

many christians tell atheists that that they too were once skeptic, but now they believe in god.
i think that very few people who were once skeptical but now are believers were very well versed and passionate about understanding conflicting arguments concerning christianity in the first place.
If you are a christian now and claim to have had serious reservations about christianity in the past, what do you think were the main things that had made you skeptical of it?

Two or three minutes ago, having devoted a few hours in the living room of my flat, reading a novel and listening to Lady D., I glanced at posts here, from the top to round about Page 5. I was bloody amazed by the degree of the utter stupidity, utter ignorance, utter lack of understanding of the makeup of our species, this planet, the world around them. By no means am I a particularly smart chap, I sent my three children to university, and one has a Ph.D., but my brain has been nibbled and gnawed by a tumor and, during surgery, an unfriendly stroke. But...but I must say that I would be ashamed to display, as many religious people did here in only a scattered of posts, so high a degree of outright ignorance--there is no other way of describing it. You would think that this is not the 21st but the 12th century. It's as if these folks all were home-schooled in the south Alabama boondocks. What a loss.

Is it for the newly baptised, or for God, or for other people?

It would save a lot of trouble. Every time time you ask a question they all go "that's not what all atheists think" or "you are generalizing" - they should talk - anyway,it's kind of tough to scope out the atheist viewpoint when they don't even have their act together enough to have some kind of national organization or spokesperson.

How do you answer that fear?

One thing is you all have to agree that you dont know everything of the world, me too. I don't know everything.
Maybe as a muslim I'm following a fake religion that has no sense. Right, now if i start believing that there is no god, what will happen next? if there is actually no god, that's okay. Nobody is going to punish me for whatever I'm doing during my life period. After death, I'll just be mixed with the soil, and that will be the end of my story.
But suppose if there is a god, what will happen? I'll have to suffer the most painful consequence.
Now even if there is no god and I pass my life believing God, there's nothing wrong with that; rather I'm having a belief and for that I'm always trying to do things that are good.
But if there is a god & I pass my life without doin good things, what will happen?
I hope this time my qstn will make everyone think, cause i'm neither supporting any religion nor a god, it's just mathematics;
PROBABILITY of a god or no god both are 50%

As many of you are aware, the prayer request for Debra M was removed. That's the question posed by her husband when she was in a coma and received almost 100 compassionate responses.

Why did they remove this, but leave other questions. It united people for a time and also passed on something about someone we care about.

How do you send a complaint to Yahoo!Answers about removing this question? I feel that this one should have been an exception as it harmed no one.

i ask this because i asked a question a few days ago about last names not being mentioned much in the bible. and i was told they weren't used at all. how can anyone claim they were keeping accurate geneological records if not using some sort of surname system. if you look at the geneology of jesus, all they use is a list of first names. how accurate could that be?

Mark 11:24: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

In John chapter 14, verses 12 through 14 we find the same thing: I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

When a person says, "ask anything in my name, and I will do it," what does he mean? Presumably, Jesus means that if you ask for anything, he will do it. What else could he possibly mean, unless he is being dishonest? And Jesus does not say it once. He says the same thing over and over again. In Matthew 7:7: "Ask, and it will be given to you." In Matthew 17:20: "Nothing will be impossible for you." In Matthew 21:21: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

you say there is no such thing as Jesus?
If you know anything about the bible then you know that Jesus rode on the back of a donkey. After Jesus died the donkeys was marked with a cross on their backs. That cross remains on the donkeys back today. That is to show that Jesus was real and he walked on this earth just like you and I are.
I know you are going to try pick this statement apart, but just stop and think for a minute. That couldn't be created by a big bang. That was too well thought of :)
God Bless

Our grand daughter is graduating from high school. She and her family are witnesses. We could not celebrate her birthday because it would supposedly place her as the center of attention etc... BUT, we have all been invited to her house for a backyard barbecue to celebrate her graduation. Gifts are accepted, etc... she obviously will be the center of attention. So, what's the difference between a birthday and a graduation celebration ?? Sincerely looking for an answer so we can make sense out of all this. Thanks

im Buddhist, i personally believe every religion makes equal sense. I also pray in mosques, temples, churches, and synagogues. my personal view is if even one person believes it and helps them emotionally or helps them be a better person then it is a valuable religion.

A Dutch newspaper has received an anonymous letter and a map claiming to show where missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann's body is buried.

Police in Portugal say they are investigating the information which identified a location 15km from the Algarve resort from which Madeleine disappeared on 3 May.

The letter strongly resembles another received by the newspaper last year, accurately pinpointing where two missing Belgian girls were buried.

Im did slate Maddie's parents for leaving her unattended but I didn't want this. I know the chance of her being dfound alive had decreased dramatically but this is heartbreaking, god bless her.
