Jurgen raises some valid points and I'm aware that you're obviously being somewhat tongue-in-cheek,but frankly I'd be very leery of the kind of political power that would give them. Also,it would be very easy to do. No matter that they might not agree on anything else, they do agree on the central point - that there is no God - and since they wouldn't need any dogma, doctrine or even a shared value system or world view, they'd be even easier to organize tthan a group like gays, simply because when it comes to being "single issue" they're just about the last word. They only have to agree on one thing and one thing only. The only thing against the idea is that it isn't necessary since jews have generally led the "battle' to secularize the U.S. All of the various lawsuits banning religious freedom of expression in public environments have resulted from judicial fiats proceeding from lawsuits filed by Jews - not jewish organizations - as far as I know -so when you study this "stand separation of church and state on it's head" phenomena - remember, the original concept was government: hands off religion - it always tracks back to some lawsuit started by a jew or a jewish couple. Never fails. The process emerged with stunning abruptness right after WWII. So as far as anything a national association of atheists is concerned,I guess I don't see what they could accomplish that Jews aren't already accomplishing with incessant attacks on public expression of religiosity. They have of course very different motives - but the goal is the same, namely to eradicate Christianity to the greatest extent possible, and use the feds to do it.

Sounds pretty toungue-in-cheek to me but hey what do i know I'm not anybody important on r&s just some punk with a cool eurotrash ambiance but you know as satire goes you do have a point, they always carp about how diversified we are and complain that we don't have any spokesperson etc. so why not throw it back at 'em. Anyway as far as the idea that it would constutute a religion itself that's a lot of hoo-ha even gays have national organizations so does everybody except these nay-sayers. So you're right basically why don't they get their act together last time they had an org it was run by a Madalyn Murray Ohara way back but her son blew her away and since then nothing but the bertrand Russel Society. i think most of them are too disorganized pyschologically to handle any kind of group activity,so good luck on that one. Anyway,we don't want to "generalize". All the answers were pretty dumb i thought. But i like the question, putting this all back on them. Anyway,we dont want them to have an org they would use it for political purposes who needs it by the way they reaaaaly hate deliberately bad grammar got a real thing so i do it all the time why not they're no friends of mine! Hope I didn't say the wrong thing.

I've always been an atheist, and so I certainly don't celebrate insane religious beliefs. That said, I try to be embracing of christianity because Jesus actually had some really good things to say, and his messages are quite beautiful, if only the christians took them seriously. Why would it offend you? Do you think those few instances are going to cause any real harm? Or are you just making drama where none is needed. Try and make things better for everyone around you.

I am actually against organized atheism, I see it as pointless. If one wishes to start an organization then why not do so from something other than a negative structure. All Atheism means is lack of belief in a God, going any further will make it into a belief of something else.

I am sure it would be far more convenient for Theists if we were a group. It simplifies an apparently confusing philosophy. They would then be able to justify their sweeping generalizations.
But as we are all individuals with unique views and thoughts, it is not possible.
We are not official and do not have an official view.
The only thing we have in common is our lack of belief in god or gods.

There is no official view - what's the official view of any religion? They followers are bound by some common things, but differ when it comes to other things. For example, Christians are bound by a belief in a god ... but there's different denominations, differing tolerance to other (non)religions, etc.
Similarly, atheists are bound by a disbelief in a deity, but have differing views about other aspects of life.

Well, that also goes to Christians as well, why so many domination's, why not believe in the same thing; example
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_denominations
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations
Christians fight about abortion, the rights of gays, about evolution, even fight among other Christians like protesting at funerals, or using money to force your point of views on people, Bill O' Reilly, Rush Limbaugh.
So the same can go for you as why Christians can't get their act together and agree on which denomination is the right denomination, but that would be impossible for Christians to do that.

Oof. I sincerely hope your tongue is firmly in your cheek!
If not, then all I can say is ..... oof. Not really......
For YOUR convenience, you wish that every atheist in the world would gather together and form a religion? Because it's exasperating to you that we are individuals and have differing opinions?
Because you lack comprehension, we must get OUR act together?
Oof.

Here is the "OFFICIAL,ORGANIZED VIEW"..We don't believe in god./That's it. Everything else is up to the individual. We aren't a religion ya know, regardless of what some claim. There,That is absolutely "THE OFFICIAL ORGANIZED VIEW" That wasn't hard, was it?
