many christians tell atheists that that they too were once skeptic, but now they believe in god.
i think that very few people who were once skeptical but now are believers were very well versed and passionate about understanding conflicting arguments concerning christianity in the first place.
If you are a christian now and claim to have had serious reservations about christianity in the past, what do you think were the main things that had made you skeptical of it?

When I was a child, I learned as a Child, I then grew up, quit going to church, and drifted away, I then took my adult questions and applied them to my childhood understanding of God. That made me very skeptical.

It was many years later, after realizing that materialism, partying and sin had not brought me any happiness that I decided to look into Religion again, this time I learned as an adult. That did it, it all makes sense now. I don't judge those of you who doubt, because I have been there myself, it was an important part of my faith today.

Good Luck!

in case you have been brainwashed into christian bashing then sure I could trust you. maximum atheists a minimum of initiate out agnostic or completely brainwashed into believing there is not any GOD. some Christians grow to be atheists because of fact they have been given no in intensity teachings. i grew to become into skeptical approximately ALL faith AND technological know-how as nicely. i'm a Christian yet I didnt continuously have self belief as I do now. I puzzled heavily Christianity. a great number of arguments against Christianity fall to the way area while somebody of equivalent intelligence versed in Christianity and technological know-how speaks up.

I personally think the the Christians who say they were once skeptical actually mean that they were once "angry with God" and therefore "doubted Him". I don't think they were skeptical for the same reasons as an Atheist.

What had made me skeptical were the science reports and teachings that had been shoved down my throat. I fell for it all the way.
Until my 6th grade science teacher taught us the theory of evolution, heavy on the theory part.
By the time he had finished his initial lecture, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was nothing to evolution.
I progressed in my education from that point on in the areas of Christianity and what science had to say.
Still, after all these many years, the scientists STILL have no evidence that evolution is real, even though every couple of months they devise or find some new thing that still doesn't prove anything.

It was more denial then skeptism...The idea that I dont want to live that life style...so if I don't believe there is no guilt and I can do what I want no matter if it hurts me or others. Then the sin becomes overwhelming and hits a point were only one person can truely help you...and it is that very moment that it is no longer being skeptical...no longer in denial...it is that moment you become a christian...and you feel good about it.

In most cases these people were simply apathetic.

They weren't skeptical, they just didn't really care.

In my experience, most of them were probably agnostics, not atheists.
