You know, the parts that clearly illustrate that God must be the Creator of the universe, because how else could he know so much stuff?

Mine:

Joshua's long day, which clearly shows God's comprehension of a heliocentric solar system, not to mention gravity.

And....bats are birds.

What are some scientific facts that you have stumbled upon while reading the Bible?

What are the differences that set them apart and what are the similarities? For example beliefs, ceremonies, traditions, etc.

I've decided I'm converting to Islam, and my husband has decided to do it too. Where can we go to do this? I lost contact with a friend of mine who was knowledgable about Islam, I think she was deleted. Can a muslim tell me how to do this? Do I need witnesses or anything?

If somebody who you really love was murdered, and their murderer was a christian, would you want them to be sentenced to death?

Wouldn't that be sending them to heaven according to your beliefs?

I hear Liberals and Conservatives all shouting about tolerance. Is tolerance the act of taking what anyone believes and immediatly accepting it, trying to NEVER, under any circumstances, hurt someone's feelings or self esteem? Or is tolerance simply not encroaching on the beliefs of others while holding true to your own?

Let me rephrase this question as too many people think they know me so well..

Ok hypothetical question as my last question was "too much to the point" and so therefor was not written PC enough. I love how people "generalize" my thoughts on children with disabilities based on a question.

-Lets say you have a friend who is pregnant. She gets testing for birth defects and finds out the child has spina bifida. She feels that she is unable to care for a child with disabilies of that extent and considers abortion. Would you as one who opposes abortion step up to the plate and tell her you will adopt her baby?-

*think this time you can answer the damn question and stop griping about what you think you know about me?

Your writing is so excited and vivid when you describe the mournful screams of atheists burning for eternity because they refused to believe a book.

Does your pulse quicken when you think about it? Do you smile?

...for deciding who goes to heaven and who goes to hell?

According to the bible, a man who rapes and murders a child can go to heaven as long as he accepts jesus as his lord and savior, yet an atheist - no matter how good of a person they were, or how many good deeds they did - will end up in hell.

Don't you see a flaw in that system?

A "perfect" god would be able to find a better way...

Or the war in Iraq, or this new-age American war against Islam? There must be plenty of people who still do, and who think America is moving in the right direction. I think each of those people should be sent to Baghdad for two weeks with 100 dollars and the clothes on their back. When they all returned the president would have 0% approval rating and things would change really quick around here. Who agrees?

I mean no offense, but it's really almost all I see. The last 10 questions I read or answered were all about fear.

"What would I do if my kid was dying, wouldn't I feel sorry for the rest of my life if I didn't pray"

"What would I do if I died and met God who will send me to hell"

"If I'm on my deathbed, would I convert to avoid hell"

Etc, etc, etc.

You DO have something else to offer, right? It can't be ALL about fear, I hope?

and the sinners are judged by howed they lived according to the 10 Commandments in the Old Testament....then what exactly, was the point of Jesus? Don't tell me he died for our sins, because if you break one of the old commandments you'll be toast. And don't say you have to repent, because you could repent in the OT and be OK as well.

So really, what was the point?

Do you REALLY want to spend ETERNITY with a bunch of people who get tiresome after a day at Bible retreat?

2007-06-07 13:19:19 · 27 answers · asked by Anonymous

I'm sure even Christians have a few.

Childhood or adult Sunday School. Or Saturday for Seventh Day Adventists.

Mine are the ones that require page flipping, "And now if you'll turn with me to........"

Like using David and Goliath as an example of God's enduring love and power, but neglecting to mention that Israel was wiped out not long after that because the surrounding nations perfected the very type of armor that Goliath was wearing.

Reading from the Bronze Age stories of Joshua's conquests, but neglecting to mention that the Iron Age changed all of that, and the tall tales of God's glorious battles didn't quite cut it anymore when the invaders were wiping out your city and carrying your women off.

Or telling us that the Jews were punished for rejecting Jesus, when the fact is that their long slippery slope to diaspora and near oblivion began when Empires emerged in the Mediterranean, and it had nothing to do with any Messiah, real or fictional.

What are your favorites?
