If a child was going to be born to a crack addicted mother or with spina bifida or something of the sorts would you adopt them? Who exactly is standing in line to adopt children with disabilities?

This is a very good question and I think I understand the asker's point. I have no idea how many people are adopting special needs children, but my guess is that it is A GREAT DEAL less than the ones who oppose abortion. I think that is the point. I don't think the question can be linked to the asker's personal views on the subject. That is the reader's interpretation (accurate or not) of what was asked.

I have gone back and forth on abortion throughout my life. First, pro-life all the way. Then, abortion only if a pregnancy resulted from a rape. Now, I would rather see the child and the parents find happiness and have a quality life. I do NOT like the fact that abortion is used as a form of birth control. Education on the matter is important but people are going to have unprotected sex that results in pregnancy. I would hope that child is brought into a nurturing environment where they are going to be cared for and loved. If that isn't the case, I would rather see that child not born. As crazy as it is for me to say that reflecting on where I've come from on the issue - it's true.

I do think it is wrong to put words in the asker's mouth and claim that he/she would disregard life in that fashion. We don't know that!

In all reality, this is happening today. Many Special Needs Children are being cared for by Christians that Love the Little Children. Families, take care of their poor helpless child in need. Your question is so far off base, it is pathetic. Try again. Oh and by the way, there is more help now, then in the past for these Sweet Children of God. Just because they are Special needs or suffering from Spina Bifida, does that mean they should have been aborted ? Instead of placing the baggage on Christians, it should be on the Mother. Suffer Not the Little Children to come unto Me. Christians do help in so many ways to help the poor little Souls , who suffered before birth. God Bless all the Children.

Yes. I already have a special needs child, and he is a lovely person. If I were able to stay at home, for example if I were not a single mom working full time, I would be happy to bring another special needs child into our family.

The den leader of my son's Cub Scout troop has adopted three special needs children, all when they were school age. Her children are a delight to be around, in spite of their handicaps and abusive histories.

Are you some sort of sicko ! What are you saying ? That we have the right to kill an unborn child because it will be defective ? God , I hope not .
I'd be happy to adopt any child who needed it , would I pick a handicap child first , no . but I'm sure there are people willing to do that .
Lets kill them all ( anyone with any type of handicap ) , even if there born . It will be easier for us to go on . Hitler tried something like that .

Adamantly against abortion.
It is murder...plain and simple.

Yes, my husband and I were willing and
did adopt the child of a physically abusive crack
& meth addicts parents who had that precious child
living in a drug-filled, filthy rundown tenament.

Yes, we have outreach organizations that take in
and/or adopt "special needs" babies/children. But in order
to adopt you have to have training from Easter Seals,
Heart Association..etc. so that you will be physically
and emotionally equipped to deal with their special needs on a daily basis.

Do we regret it? Absolutely not.

Down Syndrome babies are actually not difficulty-free to undertake because of the fact in many states there are waiting checklist for a down syndrome toddler. while speaking approximately Autistic infants you're speaking some newborn over the age of two. until eventually now which you would be able to no longer tell they have it. when I went into foster to undertake I had human beings calling my adoption professional for me to undertake a newborn. i think of you will have no issues adopting a newborn with particular desires. the technique is the comparable yet once you're finished you would be a mom very quickly because of the fact there are such constrained human beings prepared to take particular desires infants.

Yes, I adopted what society labeled as a special needs child. Only to find out that as she grew older she was a brilliant and perfect in every way. God brought me to her. Through faith we adopted her expecting the worst case scenario and by following God's leads unmasked the perfect child.

If God leads you to it God will see you through it. You can't adopt for any other reason in my opinion.

If you are a non believer who disapproves of abortion then in that case. "If love leads you to it then love will see you through it."

In either case, save the unwanted baby for someone who wants it.

Stupidity causes those problems and murder is not the solution. The solution is to prevent the pregnancies and there are way too many contraceptive methods in the market, use them!
