In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

Glorify the name of thy Lord, the Most High,

Who creates man and perfects him.

And Who determines his capacities and furnishes him with appropriate guidance.

And Who brings forth the pasturage,

Then turns it into black stubble.

We shall teach thee the Qur'an and thou shalt not forget it,

Except as what God wills. Surely, He knows what is manifest and what is hidden.

And We shall provide thee with every facility.

So keep on admonishing people. Surely, admonition is, indeed, profitable.

He who fears will heed;

But the most wretched will turn aside from it,

He who will enter the great Fire.

Then he will neither die therein nor live.

Verily, he, indeed, will prosper who purifies himself,

And remembers the name of his Lord and offer Prayers.

But you prefer the life of this world,

Whereas the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

This, indeed, is what is taught in the former Scriptures -

The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

It suddenly dawned on me a few minutes ago that Atheists seem to have the idea that it is the Bible that causes Christians to believe in God.

I think the opposite is true. In my opinion, the reading and studying of what the Bible says or any other religious text is the result of a person's belief in God, not the reason to believe.

Based on my own experience, I believe that God calls people to Him....and when people feel that call, they seek Him...through prayer and through the Bible or other texts.

Do you think this is true?

the christians 'remove' him from the realms of conversation and tell us he is 'timeless' Then when it suits them they bring him back into the realms of conversation and tell us they have a 'personal' relationshio with him or he 'loves us' Aren't 'personal' and 'love' used to describe human feelings, rather than timeless supernatural beings? It seems like everytime they want to protect the delusion they make him immune from further discussion, thus 'trumping' anyone else's 'argument' or questions. Do you really think you are fooling us Christians? We were all kids once and remember this tactic whrn we were 5 years old.

Catholics: is this because we truly are there at the Mass like John but the other denominations look on from a distance.

What are some verses that show that you are not once saved always saved?

2007-06-07 11:34:20 · 16 answers · asked by Luke K 2

I've heard Marriage is only supposed to be done bi a man and a women!
Does that mean a Man could marry his sister legally?
Does that mean a mother could marry her son after he was of age?
Does that mean a Father could marry his Daughter after she came of age?
I know this is wrong in the eye's of God, and no i would not do any of the above questions myself!
But legally some one could if they really wanted to, right!
But same sex marriages are against the law! I'm Bi but I would not marry a guy! I've been married once and i would prefer never to do it again!
I just wanted to ask this question!
The laws in this country are slanted towards whats ethical, not towards whats good for its citizens!
Seatbelt laws are just a way to make money! Otherwise motorcycles should be outlawed as un safe!
Cannibas doesn't impair your ability to drive, but its illegal while Alcohol kills 1000's every year!
I'm sorry for all who have taken offense to some of my ramblings! Bless You!

Bi!

I keep seeing people posting "Such-and-such should be illegal because it's a sin, and an abomination to God".

Is there any good reason for religious laws to bleed into secular laws?

I've seen some TV shows lately that says it's religious and that the higher power Bill W. talked about is supposed to convert people to Christianity. Others say that the higher power can be a rock or tree, it doesn't matter.

Why does everyone believe what they hear? The Quran never even once says to kill apostates. Not a single verse, but when it comes to apostates, it does say to leave them alone as it is between them and God. Does nobody bother to check facts anymore? The bible does say to kill apostates, even your own child, but not the Quran. If you are going to quote the one hadith, remember, muslims are to follow Quran first and if something goes against it, it is not to be followed. Yes, there are the extremists (key word "EXTREMISTS") who don't follow it and kill people, and they will be sent to hell on the Day. But the Quran in many places says to leave them alone. Here are the verses. What do you think and has this changed the "muslims must kill all apostates" thinking for you?

For years I’ve heard women and doctors argue the fact that a baby is not a baby until it reaches like 5 weeks or some odd number like that. How come people don’t understand that every second of the baby’s growth is life? We were all one minute old, one day, one week. We say that bacteria and fungus is a living breathing organism, but not a baby that’s only a day old in the womb, why?

How has scientology affected it's members?
I was dragged by a member of the church promoting itself to see it's
"educational film." I was fortunate to break their grasp on my wrist. It was very frightening.
Have you been harmed by a scientologist or left the church?

Why do people ask about evolution and the big bang theory and whatnot in this category? You know you are rarely going to get reasonable answers (except from the people that actually understand those concepts,) so why bother asking?

Seriously, try asking some of those questions in the appropriate category and see what kind of responses you get.

how do you think people came to the earth? I personally lean more towards evolution lately, god just seems like some crazy idea...how on earth could someone just create everything in the universe from nothing??? and even if that did happen where did god come from? did he evolve perhaps?

The bible ::

Deuteronomy
Kill everyone who has religious beliefs that are different from your own. 17:2-7

God brought the Israelites out of Egypt "by war ... and by great terrors." 4:34

God commands his people to "consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity on them." 7:16

If your brother, son, daughter, wife, or friend tries to get you to worship another god, "thou shalt surely kill him, thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death." 13:6-10

If you have a "stubborn and rebellious son," then you and the other men in your neighborhood "shall stone him with stones that he die." 21:18-21

If a man marries, then decides that he hates his wife, he can claim she wasn't a virgin when they were married. If her father can't produce the "tokens of her virginity" (bloody sheets), then the woman is to be stoned to death at her father's doorstep. 22:13-21

(I haven't finished yet just ran out of characters )

Wouldn't it be like taking a bomb to an auto salvage yard and coming out with a brand new car after it exploded? I mean someone, something had to create animals and plants, right? Does anyone really believe that all that is living today just developed over several thousand years of evolution? And if you believe that we evolved from a single cell, where did that one little single cell come from? I agree that the bible has several fallacies in it as a historical account. But so does American History. So just because there are fallacies in the bible, do you totally disregard the whole thing? You have to remember several factors when studing the bible and analyzing it. The bible has been interpeted and translated several times. I say quit focusing on the little details that have no true meaning in them. Try focusing on the important aspects of the bible.
