I've heard Marriage is only supposed to be done bi a man and a women!
Does that mean a Man could marry his sister legally?
Does that mean a mother could marry her son after he was of age?
Does that mean a Father could marry his Daughter after she came of age?
I know this is wrong in the eye's of God, and no i would not do any of the above questions myself!
But legally some one could if they really wanted to, right!
But same sex marriages are against the law! I'm Bi but I would not marry a guy! I've been married once and i would prefer never to do it again!
I just wanted to ask this question!
The laws in this country are slanted towards whats ethical, not towards whats good for its citizens!
Seatbelt laws are just a way to make money! Otherwise motorcycles should be outlawed as un safe!
Cannibas doesn't impair your ability to drive, but its illegal while Alcohol kills 1000's every year!
I'm sorry for all who have taken offense to some of my ramblings! Bless You!
Bi!

There is a good reason why Insest and Sodemy should be and used to be illegal. Not only the Lord in the Bible condemns it. But we were blessed with sex in order to bring children into this world. The Lord gives this advise in order to help us prevent deformity and desease. It is sacred. And performing such sacred acts outside of marraige between a man and a woman becomes a sacreligeous act that has dire consequences no matter how you look at it. Also what ever we put into our bodies has consequenses as well. The laws of this Country were based on Christian values in the first place but so many have been altered by those with alterior motives that one cannot depend on the law to protect or hold up in cases as this.

marriage laws vary from state to state:
if you really want to know the laws for a particular state check out
http://marriage.about.com/cs/marriagelicenses/a/usmarlaws.htm
if you are just on a rant here are some intersting things to think about:
In Alabama there are no blood tests and no waiting periods and cousins can marry each other!
In Alaska cousins can marry each other.
In Arizona cousins can only marry each other if they are over the age of 65 or If one or both first cousins are under sixty-five years of age, they can marry if they show proof to a superior court judge that one of them is unable to reproduce.
In Arkansas there are no blood tests and no waiting period. But cousins can not marry each other.
In California you can get a confidential marriage license. That means that no one will know you are married. There is no waiting period and no blood tests. And they allow proxy marriages, meaning someone can stand in for the bride or groom.
Colorado is another great place for cousins to go. No waiting period and no blood test. And they allow cousins to marry.
ok I could go state by state but I won't do that. I have always thought that you are not suppossed to marry someone that you were related to by blood. But apparently, once you pass the first cousin stage, you can in most states.....

Ethics are good for the citizens of the country. How would they not be? As for the examples you provide, one reason they are outlawed in the Old Testament is because God doesn't want genetic defects to arise.

Just to answer your question about marriage, from a religious point of view in Genesis 2:24 it reads a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Wait, isn't this the second or third question we've had on marrying your sister in the last couple of days? Is this some sort of new trend?

I'm pretty sure all that the Bible says is inappropriate for marriage is law. the Bible says you can't marry a person of the same gender, anyone in your emediate family (parents, siblings, adoptives, cousins, aunts, uncles, second cousins...)

When you go down to pick up your marriage license (in Colorado at least) they ask you outright if you're related (incest is illegal).
