Glad you kept this question open alittle longer!
I don't know what I believe, persay. I've studied it and have gone cross-eyed trying to see them myself. I've come to some sort of terms with our energy and do have a personal experience to share.
I managed to get myself to see white around everything. Not just people, but every living thing. Quite by accident, I realized that all my fixatation had created some result. My husband had found out over the phone that his mom had passed away. I was with him in the room while he was talking to his sister. As you can imagine, it was a highly emotional time. I was starring at him, just waiting to be there for him, and closed my eyes for a second.
He was behind my eyelids in yellow. A perfect form of him. I opened my eyes when I realized that I was seeing all his greater emotions emitting such a charge that he was imprinted that way to me.
Over the years my understanding is this. WE give off different energy frequencies through your emoting feelings and sometimes I see this wavering off of people as either white, black or yellow. it's difficult for me to watch a speaker because the more passionate they are about what they are speaking about, the more of this energy dance goes down. I start to see (the peterpan shadow) so to speak.
The black is a calm state, (not evil state); I feel I must be very definite about that. Yellow, is just a reflection of greater charge.
Color, for me is a whole different tool. In short, as my answer is long already. I think we're camelions (spellcheck doesn't know this word sp, and neither do I).

yes, everyone has an aura. I have always been a good judge of character and thought that was all it was until a medium told me that I could see auras but I hadn't developed the gift yet. She helped me and now I am able to see them.

It's the main reason I'm still alive today ! I've developed my skills in detecting a persons vibes. I can even get certain vibes from postings here on Y.A. ! There is some pure energies from all spectrums of human spirit on here. For me it's kinda easy to figure some of them out. Awareness is the key to understanding !

I believe others can pick up "intention" from others through some sort of extra sensory perception. So I suppose that's similar.
