I am asking this here because it is raised so often....

but when I was young , I had an IQ test done and it was 134
I have had one done more recently and it was 136
not much of a difference despite the age gap between them
yet I am going to be very honest , I am not well educated
and from what I understand this score isn't too bad
so how do we measure intelligence ?
because I don't think it is through these tests

I’ve seen this time and time again when they are talking about the religious practices of others they bring up this concept of power.

Example: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070601145146AApSAhB&r=w#QcMuXDC5WGbhxkQWVN65w_lNo6JR_XyOwdvkeFy4b0TJTba6Y6h0

I’ve hung out with Satanists and Neo-Pagans for over 20 years. Those who are interested in personal power, a very, very small minority, tend to be pretty screwed up, to be frank. But hey, to each his own, eh?

What is with this preoccupation that so many Christians have with power?

I am a Christian and I feel that it would be good to see where other people are coming from religion wise. I just want to hear your opinions.

There's so many churches talking about the end of the world being near and that we should repent ourselves so that we won't die but then there'e people that say it will like the movie Armagedon what do u think?

...And that all the other mythology in the world and throughout history is false?

It's pretty obvious that the power of the imagination is limitless; why do people, in the information age, claim ancient stories as existential truth? And why should I respect them when they do?

... this Catholic prayer to Mary?

Hail Mary Full of grace,
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death. Amen.

How can she pray for us, if she is passed away? My belief is that all dead cannot intercede for us because they are still "resting" in the ground until the trumpet of tribulation sounds (1 Thessalonians 4:16 NIV). Isn't Jesus the only one we should pray through, because we have the power to tap into his Holy Spirit that intercedes for us when we want to reach God with our desires and wishes? (John 17:20-21NIV).

a world with freewill and no bad, or "evil"... This concept may be a little abstract for our human brains to understand, but couldn't a god - who can do anything, i hear - figure out a way to do this?

Correct me if I am wrong. But here I couldn't help but ask those knowledgeable about it:

They said in the quatum level particles neither have fix position or velocity. And that by mere observation it could affect as in a force is being applied. I supposed, we are talking about consciousness here. Now I wonder, what sort of consciousness or whose consciousness it is that created the world we came to know. Does this imply God?

I know christianity is a comfort to millions of people and obviously i want to go to heaven and not hell. I do believe in God but if he is the one who has the control why does he let such awful things happen? Surely that makes him a bad person....

How did man evolve to the point of having a conscience?

Wouldn't a conscience be counter productive to the ideals behind the process of natural selection?

For ALL have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.
He is merciful toward you, and not willing that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.

Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

one of my friends is very suicidal. she cant sleep, she cant eat cause she has nightmares and flashbacks of everything bad that happened to her in her life. she never enjoyed her life (family problems, sexual violence). she is stubborn and she wont get any proffessional help. so now she wants to commit suicide, to end this pain. what will happen to her? will she go to Heaven?

another friend is very close with her and she said, if she commits suicide, then she will also go after her, she will join her. so my two best friends will commit suicide and I dont have any power to help them. and they will leave me and other friends in pain.

what will happen to both of them???? will they be in Heaven????

Christians were actually wrong all along. And the second coming takes place but God turns out to be pure evil and he comes to enslave mankind. Some demonic or alien force from another world coming back to claim this world for its own. Would you fight it then? The story is actually all turned around, enemies of God are villivied and shunned and their warnings ignored.

This actually does sound like the Old Testament God and even touches on some Gnostic ideas. So this is a reverse Pascals wager I suppose.

He must be, because if God were all powerful he could stop it. Either that or by his inaction he is giving tacit approval.

There is a committee of 12 working to plot against Jesus. They are in Denmark as we speak, and we should all watch out for cell phone calls. Does anyone have the phone number?

Sure I may seem delusional, but partly because I was born in 1680! You try to live that long without losing a brain cell or two here and there!

I think Loka is a philly! Or is that filly? Or is she a Philadelphia Phillie? Does she like baseball? I'm scared!

I know of a person I just met, and she gossips about everyone and everything. She told me candidly that she likes to know EVERYTHING about everyone and once she knows all, she will dump the person or friendship and continue to destroy them by saying negative slanderous things against them.

I try to avoid her but she shops where I shop and goes to the same market and laundry and she comes 20 minutes across from town. No. I do not gossip. I refrain because it is a sin.

For ALL have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.
We do not teach children to be naughty do we? It's inbuilt - the Bible says that we are born in sin and shapened in iniquity.
Think about your rebellion - it may come in various forms, and we need to receive God's mercy. Don't harden your heart and be stubborn. Everyone struggles with sin throughout their lives, our conscience tells us when we do wrong. Repentance is the key to receiving God's mercy. Repentance means to turn away from and receive God's forgiveness for your wrong doing.

For God is not willing that any should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.

I'm basically an agnostic right now. But I'm looking into a bunch of religions, and find some interesting. I feel especially attracted to Paganism, especially Celtic. Can anybody please give me some good links, or books to look for?

Thanks everybody,
-[dot]Seraph

PS. I know absolutely nothing about Paganism, let alone Celtic Paganism itself. Thanks again, people. =]

PPS. I'm 14, so I don't know if that makes a difference about what age you have to be and whatnot. I know I wouldn't be old enough to be Wiccan... Either way, I'd still like to learn. =]

Since there is so much controversy about what to believe or not to believe, are there any truths that are universal that everyone can agree upon? If so, what are they?

Or is it that nobody wants to be wrong and nobody wants to admit that it's possible that both sides are right? Seriously can anybody truly claim to know for a fact one way or the other?

People can ask whatever they want in here since religion and spirituality is such a broad an personal category that anything maybe contained in that category.
For instance: i may think that growing tomatoes is a very spiritual matter and ask about tomato fertilizer in here, since mens sana in corpore sano et spiritus sano too...
that is if you eat helathy your mind is healthier and your spirit too...or that is what i belief or may belief and as it is my belief is my spirituality.
