... this Catholic prayer to Mary?

Hail Mary Full of grace,
The Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women
And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death. Amen.

How can she pray for us, if she is passed away? My belief is that all dead cannot intercede for us because they are still "resting" in the ground until the trumpet of tribulation sounds (1 Thessalonians 4:16 NIV). Isn't Jesus the only one we should pray through, because we have the power to tap into his Holy Spirit that intercedes for us when we want to reach God with our desires and wishes? (John 17:20-21NIV).

It's not in the Bible, not that they'd no what's in the holy books anyways.

And as for Luke 1:42. Way to take a verse directly out of context.

That verse was speaking of what Elizabeth said after John leaped in her because he senses Jesus in Mary's room.

Nowhere doesn't it say pray to mary ....that's just plain and simple.

Simple explanation - your belief is WRONG. the Christian Church has taught from the beginning that we are judged at the moment of physical death, and go to either heaven or hell. A soul cannot be "in the ground". Any living Christian can intercede, whether they are living on earth or in heaven. Jesus said that those who follow Him "will never die". Unless He lied, Christians who have "passed away", or "fallen asleep" as the apostles described it, are still very much alive, in fact more so than they ever were on earth, and therefore quite capable of praying and interceding. Especially since Revelation describes the saints before the throne of God offering to Him our prayers.

The first half of the prayer you quoted is taken directly from Scripture. The other part is a simple request for intercession, just like asking my family here on earth pray for me. Mary and the other heavenly saints are also part of my family, through our mutual Father and our Lord, Savior and Brother, Jesus Christ.

as a Christian that does not belong to the Catholic Church,
I believe that Jesus is the great intercessor, the Holy Spirit intercedes also,
but the bible says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord, we are spirit being who live in a body.
I believe that there are a lot of people in Heaven that intercede for us, we often hear about the little old Grandmothers prayers, and I think that they keep talking to God about us when they go on to Heaven.
and who is to say that Mary cannot intercede, there are a lot of things that we do not know.

Where did the Hail Mary come from?
The first part of the Hail Mary consists of the greetings which the angel and Elizabeth addressed to Mary, as recorded in the Gospel; the second part was added by the Church as our response under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. (2676-2677)

And when he [the angel] came into her presence he said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" (Lk 1:28).

[Elizabeth] exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!" (Lk 1:42).

In Luke 1:42, its is mentioned "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb." So that is scriptural.

Not sure where all the other statements came from. Probably from Catholic tradition.

Jesus is the only mediator to Father God.

There are no scriptures to back that up. We don't need Mary, seeing that Jesus "everliveth to intercede for us."
