Around him shone an iridescence
Bombs dropped-he knew he had to stay.
Where had it gone, that confidence
He had that day he sailed away?
Remembering some words he had,
He'd copied them while out at sea;
He pulled them out, his heart turned glad,
As sitting, he began to read.
That verse his hand held tightly there,
"Do not fear, nor be dismayed;
The Lord is with you everywhere."
Encouragement this verse conveyed.
His mind began to wonder to
The Lord of all who sent His Son;
To die for me and die for you,
So we could live with Him as one.
Then suddenly there came a crash,
He realized he was back at war.
The time had come to run and dash,
The verse he had his hand still bore.
He ran out in that open span,
With courage, though knowing he could die;
Yet knowing his God had a plan,
With God forever he'd stand by.
I can't take credit for this because it was written by my sister. What do you think?
