They spend hours attacking other sects...

Shouldn't they focus more on proving themselves right? Or do they just not have enough truth to do that?

for instance...The Mormons and the JW's don't spend their time attacking others... they tell others why they are right. But, baptists and Methodists and even some supposedly "non-denomnational" sects give why everyone else is wrong sermons and sunday school lessons early on.

I was browsing around the net and I came across a site that had a person stating he was an Atheist and also a believing member of Scientology. I've also heard from various sources that Christians can be Scientologist. Would this then make Scientology more of a philosophy than a religion?

I, even I, am Yahweh; and beside me there is no savior…a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me” (43:11; 45:21).

Ezekiel 18:20
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

James2:24

Matthew 19:16-17
"And behold, one came up to him, saying, "Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?"
"And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."

Stephen Hawking talks about observing Singularity by giving example of Astronaut who falls in a blackhole... If you have read Brief History of Time, chapter of Black Hole... please tell me what does he mean by this...

"There are some solutions of the equations of general relativity in which it is possible for our astronaut to see a naked
singularity: he may be able to avoid hitting the singularity and instead fall through a "wormhole” and come out in another
region of the universe."

My husband is fascinated with Apologetics (ie explaining and supporting doctrines through scripture and historical evidence, and clearing up misconceptions about a religion's tennets).

I know Mormons, Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc, all do this - appeal to history, scripture, logic, etc. I was just wondering, though, if this kind of intellectual research into religions ever has the power to change a person's faith?

I think it doesn't. I think faith and conviction come through the Spirit, and through living the principles of that religion, not through intellectualism. What do you think? Have you (or someone you know) converted to a religion due to an intellectual discussion or process?

Or do you only use Apologetics as a supplement to faith that you already have? Can faith come from intellectualism?

I keep hearing over and over that ALL of Christianity and the bible is taken from other religions.
What religions are these?
What proof is there?

And why is their "version" of things true..when apparently Christianity and the bible is made up?

If you had a non-curable STD, but also not deadly, would you bother dating? My boyfriend and I both have it, we don't know who gave it to whom, as neither of us had symptoms until after we started dating. We have a baby but I don't want to stay with him just for that reason. Also, I want to live a Christian life and although he claims to be Christian also, he isn't as respectful toward me as I think he should be. Also, he drinks a lot, but doesn't think he does. But if I dated, would it be realistic to expect to ever develop another relationship with a guy? I mean, I'm 24, but not as pretty as I used to be, or as skinny because of the pregnancy. I have a baby who's father is in the picture, and I have a non-curable STD (the symptoms can be easily treated, but the virus that causes the symptoms can't). Even tho it's not deadly, what guy would want that when the choice is that or a girl with no baggage? Would it be fair of me to ask anybody to accept me the way I am?

I used to be Christian. Now i know there is truth somewhere else than the lies i was taught then. If u think it is i who is blind, ur wrong. Have u not seen the proven facts? Ur God is a made up fictional storybook character made to scare children and make other religions convert so they wouldnt have to kill all the others who knew better. What do you say to that...???

Will you read, pray and ask God if The Book of Mormon, is God's word?

If not... why? Read Proverbs 18:13,15 He who answereth before he heareth the whole matter, it is shame and folly unto him.
James 1:5-6
5.)If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him.
6.) but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering, for he that wavereth is like a wave upon the sea driven and tossed.

I know for myself it is true scripture, given through a prophet of God and it truely testafies of Christ.

doesn't the promise of an afterlife sort of devalue human existence? what's the point of truly appreciating it if you believe there's something better just around the corner. think of it this way. would you care about a few scraps of food on a table if you believed an endless buffet of everything you've ever wanted to eat was on it's way? probably not. but imagine you're starving and you don't know if there's another meal coming. so you make the most of what you have. does this answer why atheists value life and in turn where we get our morality from. we don't know if there's an afterlife. frankly, we don't care. it's not worth it to waste our time worrying about it. we only care for the life that we can see and that is why it is important to make the most of it. got it?

If you are a Muslim, Hindu, or a member of any other religion, or an atheist or agnostic, you will burn in Hell FOREVER when you die.

God does not want to do this, but he is FORCED to do it just because.

Convert to Christianity or burn.
