They spend hours attacking other sects...

Shouldn't they focus more on proving themselves right? Or do they just not have enough truth to do that?

for instance...The Mormons and the JW's don't spend their time attacking others... they tell others why they are right. But, baptists and Methodists and even some supposedly "non-denomnational" sects give why everyone else is wrong sermons and sunday school lessons early on.

To be gracious, it must be noted that "rank-and-file" Jehovah's Witnesses (and Mormons to a somewhat lesser extent) are experienced preachers. Perhaps the inexperience of others shows in their approach, or perhaps their relative degree of holy spirit.

As the question alludes, of course Jesus Christ did not found the Christian congregation to propound negativisms against any specific religion, but to preach the "good news" of the Kingdom. The bible's judgment message is not against just one particular religion, and it would be a mistake to pretend otherwise.

(Matthew 24:14) And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations

(Luke 9:6) They went through the territory from village to village, declaring the good news

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

In fact, at Matthew chapter 13, Jesus explained that all of self-described "Christianity" (true and false) would perform a service over the centuries in matters regarding bible translation, continuing respect for the bible, and in laying the groundwork for the ingathering prophesied to occur in "the conclusion of the system of things".

(Matthew 13:47-49) The kingdom of the heavens is like a dragnet let down into the sea and gathering up fish of every kind. 48 When it got full they hauled it up onto the beach and, sitting down, they collected the fine ones into vessels, but the unsuitable they threw away. 49 That is how it will be in the conclusion of the system of things: the angels will go out and separate the wicked from among the righteous

Note that it is not humans but angels who primarily perform the separating work. Of course, only Jesus and Jehovah make the final judgment regarding each individual.

(John 12:48-49) The word that I [Jesus] have spoken is what will judge [a person] in the last day; 49 because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment

(John 8:16) if I do judge, my judgment is truthful, because I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me

(Matthew 12:36) They will render an account concerning it on Judgment Day

(John 5:22,27-30) [The Father] has committed all the judging to the Son... 27 And he has given him authority to do judging, because Son of man he is. 28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out... I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

(Acts 17:30-31) God has overlooked the times of such ignorance, yet now he is telling mankind that they should all everywhere repent. 31 Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man [Jesus] whom he has appointed

Okay, I think there are two parts needed to answer your question. First of all, all religions are mutually exclusive from each other or else we'd consider them a single religion. Thus no two religions can ever possibly exist without having major differences that are significant.

See my attempt to explain this in more detail:
http://www.helium.com/channels/1002-Comparative-Religion/knowledge/8273-there-religion-which-better

All religions must have some way of "controlling their borders" so to speak. The two examples you use (Mormons and JW's) have very clear ways of identifying whether you are or aren't a member of their religion. So do Catholics. Not surprisingly, these three religions (and any similar to them) will probably spend more time explaining their religion then attacking another one.

However, protestant religions do not have centralized leadership and thus do not have as clear of borders. Thus they have a need to define themselves in terms of doctrines. However, if they merely said "well, we believe in X and we disagree respectfully with anyone that doesn't" they would very quickly find that they have no border at all. Imagine, for a moment, what would happen if an Evangelical religion allowed for JW's to be considered "Christian" (not even heretics) but JW's didn't consider them true Christians. The Evangelicals would be constantly losing membership to the JW's because, hey, might as well belong to the religion that covers me either way.

So in other words, protestant religions, needing some form of border control other then central leadership, will always find it tempting to differentiate based on doctrine by vehemently denying religions that disagree with them. This temptation will sometimes result in them holding classes denouncing other religions (sometimes using dishonest tactic), etc.

That being said, it’s not like the three religions above (Mormons, Catholics, JW’s, etc.) aren’t sometimes guilty of the same thing. But there is much less need for attacks on other religions in those three religions.

Oh, and also, it *is* (in my opinion) possible to differentiate on doctrine without being dishonest or “attacking” another religion. I’m sure many protestant religions do just that. I’m just saying there is a much greater temptation and you’re far more likely to be aware of the vocal and dishonest attacks then the well thought out attempts to differentiate beliefs.

Do you know the reason why “many Christian denominations try to prove each other wrong?” Is it because they want people to become members of their churches? Why do they want more members? Is it because the more members, the more will contribute to make the church grow? How much do each member contribute? Is it what is stated in the Old Testament called tithe?

Isn’t it better if Christians become united and just be under one church? How can Christians become united? Who can tell the Christians which is true and which is false? Which is correct and which is wrong?

Didn’t the Bible say who can tell us the truth? Is it our fellow human beings? If it is our fellow human beings, why are their interpretation of the same Bible different from each other that they attack others whose interpretation is different from theirs? Who can really tell us the truth?

Have you heard about the Holy Spirit? Is the Holy Spirit a spirit or “an active force”? What will the Holy Spirit do according to Jesus in John chapters 14, 15 and 16? Who should we listen to: our fellow human beings or the Spirit? Doesn’t Revelation chapters 2 and 3 tell us who?

there are both bad sides and good to denominations. the good is that each denomination is like a personality and the more personalities you represent - the greater audience you are reaching. The bad side is when you consider your differences as better than the other denominations. This is legalistic which Jesus preached against time and time again. He also mentions unity so much in the Bible and stresses its importance bc/ of the impact it can make. Telling others why you're right doesn't necessarily make you right. In some cases you are more wrong bc/ to assume your way of thinking is right is just another side to the same coin.

This is my answer so dont focus on christian denominations

muslims are 100% occupied with promoting islam through propaganda and violance. They are also occupied with trying to keep muslims under full control because lots are secretly leaving islam

Christians and Catholics are more concerned about promoting the love of jesus through unselfishly helping millions of poor, sick and oppressed people all over the globe. As a result more and more people experience the love of jesus christ through the humanity of Catholics and christians

No matter what anyone says i will always have a great love and respect for anyone who promotes love and helps those who suffer

Well, I believe everybody of any kind of sect believe they are right. They believe their views are the "right" views. I don't think this is the right view. In the Bible (I am a christian) it says in Romans 14:1 "accept him whose faith is weak without passing judgement on disputable matters." I believe this means things like worshiping on Sat. vs. Sun., and if you should eat pork or not, etc. We who believe in Christ are all of one body and we need to try and remember that. There are things that are not disputable that you should stick up for with your beliefs like one man & one woman together, Jesus is the son of God and died on the cross to save us from our sins, there is no way to the Father except through Jesus (the belief in him) etc. There is actual proof that Jesus lived, he walked the earth. There is a lot of histrorical proof that lines up the word of God in the Bible. Ken Hoven is a scientific teacher of historical evidence. He talks a lot of scientific research, especially about evolution vs. creation. He has a website, but a lot of the stuff you have to order, which sucks, because it's spendy. But I have watched his evolution vs. creation seminar, and it was excellent!! His website is www.drdino.com The problem with a lot of religions or sects is that they take part of the Bible and live by it, discarding or completely leaving out parts of it. Jehova Witnesses do this. And in my opinion Jehova Withnesses are trying to lead people astray by deception. I have been visited bt many Jehovas Witnesses and they never tell me why they are right, they tell me their beliefs, which is way off from the Bible I believe in. They believe you can only refer to God as "Jehova", but the Jesus clearly stated in the Bible we pray to God saying "Our Father in Heaven". (There are MANY names we can call our Lord. )Not to mention their Bible was created by a man, when the Bible was written testimonies of people who were in direct contact with God and Jesus. I personally go to church every Sunday and I have been going for years. I have NEVER heard a single sermon on other beliefs being wrong, I have heard every Sunday sermons that come from scripture directly out of the Bible though. I think you need to do some research on Christianity and the validity of it from a Christian teacher (not preacher, there is a difference) before you start attcking the way they do things, although I do agree that Christians do focus a little too much on the "disputable matters" there is more proof of our beliefs than of any other religion.

I've asked a Mormom that same question before and he said, "We don't dabble with controversies" The JW's response was similar albeit more hostile. "The only religion we follow is God and his Words from the Bible" You have to admit that's what every sect tells you

No church is the "genuine church", regardless of the shown fact that they have led believers and attendees of their church homes to have faith so. All this to declare, this is tough to observe the form you're being lead around, except you get a huge gamble to be on the exterior finding in.
